you circled the bottom of the branch but yes the top of those two branches are the "growth tips". Every single place on the stem that has a leaf , also has a new growth/start coming off it. Their idea is to cut the very top out of the plant (about where you circled) that way the lower branches you circled in the previous picture will turn into the "tops"

If i learnt anything from a couple shops i visit.. if you act like your new & without a clue they will sell you a load of shit you dont need. I got charged £135 for a 4'' inline fan kit (was awful not branded or anything) went to a new place got 6'' rhino kit £185 which works a treat now
