Is this a good setup, SH Bubbleponics

I plan on getting a Bubbleponics 6 planter system from SH for 99.00$ (are there any coupon codes or anything??)

Digital 600 watt HPS MH GROW LIGHT 600w AIR COOLED HOOD

I don't think I'm going to get the ducting or fans for the light yet because I'm trying to keep this right at 500$. I plan on getting a 1000w hps/mh and the fans/ducting for both as well as another 6planter and a grow tent after this harvest. Just kinda broke at the moment, lol

I will also be getting the 6 months nute supply, The pro drainage kit, the PH control kit, and the thermometer/hygrometer.

I plan on getting 10 feminized white rhino seeds from nirvana. Is this a good strain with this setup and can I fit 6 of them in there without crowding too much?

I'm putting this setup in my closet within my closet (right now its a bunch of shelves but theyre coming down). It's aobut 2.5ftdeep, 5.5ft wide and 8ft high.

So does this sound like a good setup?

Edit: Can you recommend anything else that I'll need? I know all about carbon scrubbers and whatnot and I plan on getting one after the harvest. Do you think it's realistic to expect 3 pounds?

Edit2: I am also liking the Aurora Indica seeds, it says they grow short and stubby which is what I need.

Dude i got the same system for a CFL setup but then before i even planted anything in them i started dirt and now i am so much in love growing in good old dirt that i am getting rid of the SH 6 planter to make room for 3 VERY large plants :)
hydro is good for fast plants and if you do it right may taste better but dirt is for plants and water is for fish ;)
but good luck!

well even though i agree with 1990 the facts still stand pretty tall hydro is the ultimate grow dirt is for the outdoors lol even though im doing a MG organic grow at the time i have started my first hydro with my new 4 pod hydro unit and to answer your question if you chose the right strain mosty indica or fast auto flowering strains seed to harvest in 9/10 weeks they get to be about 2 1/2 to 3 feet tall you can get away with them all in the same unit the only problem would be roots fighting for space..but others have done it so good lock this place has a lot of help here some jack asses but mostly good people that really want to share their knowledge and help out check out the hydro grow guide by rosebud he is the man and very helpful at all times...im starting my blue mystic and my master low fems all together in the same four pod unit and they will all stay untill harvest there..i hope that helps a lil any other ? please ask

I want to harvest very fast though and from all the research I've done this seems like the system that will do that. Curious though if you had any advise or if you are just telling me my system is junk or what?

Hey thanks for the reply stinkbud. After looking on nirvana it seems the only auto flowering seeds they have is Short Rider. But after googling and looking at reviews it seems like it would work pretty well. With autoflowering plants you keep the lights on 12/12 the entire time right? (that would actually save on my power bill lol)

bro if your using cfl's i wouldnt worry to much about the bill my total actual wattage for my cfl set up is around 300 used the equivilent in output is around 780watts ill have ruffly 12000lumens with my 2700k cfl's alone and the others to round it off is about 5,600 lumens at 5700k to try and get some sort of full spectrum in my flowering stage just the way i was showed how to do it tried some white rhino under these conditions and was blown away..as for the light regimen it really doesnt matter they auto flower but the best results are i was told 20 on 4 off through out the complete grow..also try dr joint nice seeds for a good choice in seed selection i use a sight called worldwide marijuana seeds for my orders when i want to get a variaty and the good thing about them the prices and the delivery and there the only place i know that sells individual seeds to order thats great i ordered 3 white rhino 3 pappya 3 and 3 blue mystic all for just 3.99 a piece got here in 5 days im stoked happy growing peace pot prosparity...stink1.......

With autoflowering plants you light 24/7 the whole cycle. I've grown autos and they are ok but just as much work as growing plants that aren't dwarfs and don't have dwarf yields. Don't buy a packaged thing like that system. Put one together yourself. Start with a simple bubble bucket. I can assure you that you will graduate to something else for grow 2 no matter what you use for grow one. Grow one is for learning. Don't invest a lot on hardware.

I'm going to use a 600w HPS/MH setup. And does that place ship discreetly? I'm paranoid enough having this stuff shipped to my house it has to be hella discreet.

I have already saved up 500$ and I really like the bubbleponics system. I've only seen good things from it.

Type in GROWTIPS and get 5% or so off.

Join with the Bubbleheads, display the bubblehead logo, and Roseman can let you know the discount code for 10% off, I just forgot it right now. :peace:

I understand the money issue, but those HID style lights run HOT. They are a mini-sun. Heat can become an issue real quick. Just letting you know.

I will also be getting the 6 months nute supply, The pro drainage kit, the PH control kit, and the thermometer/hygrometer.
I suggest the 6 month nute pack. Their nutes are great for a beginner. Stick with JUST their nutes, no additives. Get it down, then you can play ! You can buy a better digital thermo/hydro if you want. I can post links if you are interested. Just let me know. The pro drainage kit also has some issues with premature leaks. Other bubbleheads have the cure for this. I think they use some silicone or something. PH control kit is nice, but liquid ph control is nicer. Just another option. They sell liquid ph control on the SH site too.

I plan on getting 10 feminized white rhino seeds from nirvana. Is this a good strain with this setup and can I fit 6 of them in there without crowding too much?
No. Some say a max of 4. I run 3 plants and they are getting really crowded already. Start with 4 and see how it goes.

I am sure more things will come to me but you have the right idea and a decent setup in mind. Search this site for the bubbleheads.

the whole point of this thread is for suggestions as a begginer you have to start somewhere and all that elaborate set up while being a newbie is time wasted and expencive to boot start off with the simple basics and progress from there youll be rewarded later from obtaining knowledge about how to grow this plant we love i too have a 400 watt mh and a 400watt hps before i know to get them in a conversion unit big waste of money on my part only to **** up my first grow by going beyound my knowledge your set up is fine but if you think you can get away cheap while running a 600 watt hps think again be ready to reconstruct your whole grow space with the heat and all and air flow just a thought for you die hard hid's check out some of the grow journals on cfl's less heating problems cost less..one thimg is true bubblephonics is the best forum for you to get info on this subject that is also where you will find roseman as i atted before...peace pot prosparity... stink1

Yes I agree I have to start somewhere, hense the thread. :)

I plan on having my air conditioner cool it, it's in my closet that has 2 air vents lol.

The 600w HPS/MH is in one ballast, it's like a conversion kit or something I dont know I linked too it.

I think I've decided to get Bubblelicious Feminized Seeds x10 and start 6 plants in there. Then keep the best 4 out of those. I might just keep all 6 growing. Whatever you guys think would be better to maximize harvest. I'm not really a 'new' grower. I've done alot of outdoor and soil growing but this is my first adventure with hydro. It seems like Roseman grows 6 plants in his so I don't see why it wouldn't work.

That a/c will raise the e-bill mighty quick trying to cool those lights. Goodluck with that. Like I said, they run HOT.

Roseman STARTS 6 seeds in his BB kit. This is because he uses regular, un-feminized seeds. Of his 6, 3 always turn male on him. So, he pulls three and grows out the 3 females. So, even Roseman only grows three per resevoir. Since you want feminized seeds, there is no need for you to do this. You KNOW your plants will be lovely ladies. So, save the money, save the seeds, and start 4. If your dead set on 6, give it a try. Maybe some heavy LST'ing and some trick light setups and you can make it work. All I can see is headaces, but its your call. I suggest reading through those bubblephead threads I linked to before brother. :peace:

Man, I am not trying to lead you the wrong way. I want you to succeed, and I want you to have a nice fat harvest of killer buds. You will too. I own a SH bubbleponics system. I have two plants in there now, and I can't imagine trying to fit anymore. I'll attach pics so you can scope it out. Pics are a week old. Plants have only gotten bigger since. (oh, and technically there is a third plant in the system, but you can't see it. Had a small supercropping "accident" and that plant took some serious abuse. Surprised its still alive. Wont give me much, but it'll stay in there. )bongsmilie

After considering all your advice and looking at the CFLs I think it might be the better option for me.

If I got Bubbleponics 6 planter with the Dual Spectrum II lights and 2x 42w 6500, 2x 42w 2700 bulbs. Would that be enough for 3 plants?

This is what my cart looks like there. Now I'm curious because it doesn't say what kind of pH meter it is.... that kind of sketches me out.

If I don't necessarily need those other lights I'd rather not get them. Would the lights that come with this system produce some nice plants?

The reason I ask is I'm on a very limited budget. I just bought a new house, blah blah, you guys dont care but money is hella tight at the moment so I'm trying to skimp by on this first grow. It's mainly for experience with a hydro system. I've read nearly every journal here involving this system and I've seen a couple that grew some plants with no additional lights.

those 42s are $8 each at Lowes and I'd have at least 4 of the 2700k and 4 of the 6500 k for one tank, plus the 2 85 watt bulbs and you will have ample Light. AND you are going to drop and break a bulb and will need an extra to replace it when it happens.

just the two 85s will work, that is how I did my first grow, with two 85s.

that is too small for me to read even after I doubled it.
I don't know what you are talking about with the pH meter. You do not get a meter, you get the test strips, with the kit.

You told me this same thing, and I laughed, kinda passed it off and said "no way, not me ! ". I am very careful with things. I have lots of glass in the house I am always using.

Sure enough, broke a 200watt CFL the other day ! An old clamp reflector came apart on me when I was playing with it. Fell and SMACK, right into one of my big ass 200 watters. Instantly thought about what you said as soon as it broke. :peace:
