hey as a quick note for the smell maybe ferment some yeast to add co2 and cover the smell, it smells more like a brewery than ganja so you maybe not want too,,
the mix is one packet ,about 1/5 of a mug,of yeast(I use dried) to one half mug sugar to then 3 mugs tepid/warm water. if the waters to hot the yeast will not ferment, if its too cold same, gotta get it goldy locks style.
just leave enough room in the container for the yeast to bubble up , so half way in a jug say, this will kick out loads of co2 for say an hour or so, just pour half out and top up with tepid water and some sugar and it will grow itself,, its like having a growing liquid with the plants providing co2/
hope that helps.. and try and I bet it will cover any smell with its yeasty -ness, I quite like the smell, others disagree,,well most.
