Is this enough light?

I have been reading around the site for a while now, and I want to start by thanking everyone for all the information here.

This is my first grow, and I am using 2 Fluorescent bulbs in a hood. I believe they are both 40w bulbs, one cool, one warm. Is this enough light for 1-2 plants? I am 8 days into the flowering stage, but I am seeing little in terms of actual bud growth. I was thinking of maybe adding an HPS or something. The plants are surrounded with white walls, and the top is covered with mylar.

If pics would help, I can take some. Just let me know.

I currently have 3 plants (I think only 1 is female)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Pics would be nice. we like pictures. I don't need them to answer this. No, the t-12 florescent fixture will not be enough to flower any plants. You can solve this I am positive for less than $100. I know this because I read SeeMoreBuds great book. He explains how he grew 8oz of buds using 8-42 watt cfl's for less than $100. SInce you already have some of the things he bought it would cost you less then $100. The Book, "Marijuana Buds For Less is available at Barnes & Nobles in the Gardening Section. Be sure to ask for help locating it, this will help them to remember they have it and ask if they have plans to carry his other four books, this will make them think about it. Best $16.95 you will spend. VV

I am uploading some pics now.

Haha it almost seems like you may have written that book, with all the publicity you're giving it.

You can see the lights in the pics, they are 48". They worked good for the Veg stages, but I agree they may not be enough to flower.

The plants are between 1-1.5' each in these pics.

The close ups show which one I am pretty sure is a female, and then the other two which I am unsure of right now.

Thanks again

Yea, flowering is definitely going to be laughable at most with those t12's.

A good CFL setup can cost almost 40-50 bucks anyway after wiring, sockets, and bulbs, so I would just shoot for a decent HPS, whcih you can get a full system for around 100-120 for maybe a 250-400w.

Either way will work, but ask yourself: Do I want a good yield or maybe just an ounce or two?

Gorgeous plants though, and that one is for sure a female. The other isn't showing signs of sex quite yet though.

make a smaller grow area with bright white walls or tinfoil. People frown upon the tin foil because it can burn holes in your leaves but with less powerful lights it wont be hot enough or bright enough to burn your plant.. It's a much cheaper way to do things and you wont have anything amazing but it will be definitly some mediocre bud. My friend did the same thing with like 4 of the 40 watt CFL's and he grew a very nice 3 foot chocolate chunk plant. You just have to make sure the whole grow area is pitch white or tinfoil(for lighting purposes i find tinfoil is better but whatever). and it is completly sealed from outside light.. You MUST have ventilation if you do that though. I've seen it done in large boxes CFL's and tinfoil before. Don't get me wrong it's only decent flowering(crappy compared to expensive lights) if you do that but what can you expect for paying literally crap all? It will work but if you want something big and bomb then you should def put some cash into it

Well, all it took was another day for the plants to show their sexes. The first one showed less than 2 days in, the second and third took 8 days. I ended up with 2/3 Female, so not bad. Unfortunately, the one that looked amazing was in fact a male. I cut it today and it is hanging to dry.

I went and purchased a new light. Was this a good choice for bulbs? As I only want to flower 1 plant at a time, I have put the other back into vegetation.
