is this heat stress?

  • Hey guys its my first grow and m plants looking pretty good ( in my mind). But since 4 days now the edges of the leafs start to curl up. Ive been told its heat stress and they curl up to increse the distance between the edges. (the little spikes). I have a 30 watt cfl and its like 4 inches above the plant its a white cool and doesnt produce a lot of heat but its still fairly warm around the plant. But id say its not way hotter than room temperature. i also have a fan its not an oscillating one but it either blows against the walls of my closet or directly at the plant and then i turn the plant 45 degrees every half hour. here are some pics! and please dont just say yes its heat stress please also give me advice on how to fix it. ​

Whats the overall temp in the room? (not necessarily where the plant is). The reason I ask this is because I have noticed when the ambient temperature is too low for the plant and the plant senses heat near the light, the plant will taco the leaves to try and "reach" warmth. *Not to be confused with heat stress*

I have seen this every now and again when my temp gets too low.

Is it hot if you hold your hand right above the leaf? If not I doubt it's heat unless the room is real hot.

Moving the light back a bit for a day or two doesn't cost anything either, as a test.

Numnutz2: If your concerned about heat on your plants from your lights use the 'back of your hand rule.' Put your hand, back side up, at the same height of the tops of your plants. If it feels uncomfortably warm raise your lights. I hope that helps. It has worked for me. HSA

i'd say give it some water in the soil, but don't mist it . if the water helps them the humidity is low not enough water too much heat for that strain.

that should be ur first step..... is the fan leaves standing up strong after it's watered?

Your comment is confusing, i can tell by looking at it its over watering bro.

also, just leave your fan pointing up at the bottom of your leaves. so it is constantly blowing ur plant, and the heat up, then there should be no heat when u put your hand under the light, it works for me, but i have way more lights and a 1 foot by 1 foot fan and a 9000 btu ac on fan mode blowing up at them.
