Good info on having proper ph. It's is always 6.2-6.4 (after nutrients added) going in. I'm sure your helping your friends ladies with the ph'd water.I went through this this summer... I'm still not a 100% sure I solved it, but it did seem to go away by my doing the following steps.
First, I stopped adding a and b nutes at the same time. I now add one and wait a while and add the other. I use home and garden.
Second, I almost had to overwater the plants as I live in high rockies and its arid as fuck here. The plants you highlighted in your pics seem to match up with mine. They got crispy before the other, newer leaves and I just had to pluck them.
And lastly, I made sure to PH my water. My roommate has never ph'd his and always (in my opinion and not his) had less than optimal results. Now I PH my water and secretly PH his also. I'm not sure if any of the things I did really truly mattered, or if the natural drop in temperature helped, but I can say this.... When they get crispy, pluck them. They're not going to get better, and they are dragging the rest of the plant down. Take heart, keep a constant vigilant, and keep searching for the answer that fits your problem! Good luck buddy!
Yes, it was both. A bit more calmg/water and her leaves green'd up again. No more burn/discoloring. No more signs showing up either so the recalibration of the lighting arrangement took any excess heat/light stress off her.I had the same issue a few months back. I'm kind of in the light stress camp but still think maybe it could be CalMag or most likely a combination of both. After I considerably backed off my BlackStar Chrome and started diligently adding CalMag at every watering my new plants are healthy and green with no spotting. I kind of think it was from using the LED too close to the canopy which made the plant need more CalMag. I'm not a botanist and I'm only half retard but that's what I think.
Although what you said about LEDs might be more directed to what big easy posted, I too also have a led, so that is helpful. I'm running all cfl's right now though, I turned off the led and replaced with a 105w 2700k cfl. Her stalk is now just about ready to receive normal feeding dosages I feel.cal/mag all day. pay attention to the K levels as it will compete with ca/mg in high levels. leds don't give of nearly as much heat as HID do so for that reason its not heat stress. as far as light stress when using leds most plants will stunt their vertical growth and create more horizontal growth if there established, young plants and seedlings will stunt growth all together and do for shit until roots can accomidate the plant with need nutrition to equal the rate of photosynthesis that the light is capable of giving.
