What's up guys. I tried searching this here and couldn't seem to narrow the results down, but does this look like light burn? Running a 400w mh @ about 12-13 inches, but up until yesterday the room had no ac and the temp was about 85 for a week during the day, and then 90-95 for a couple days. The worst it got in there was like 98° f, and I really didn't have the money but I bought an air conditioner for that room BC even tho they were doing fine, I knew I couldn't continue to grow with those conditions.

The shine started out as what looked like slight fuzzy spots/thin superficial membrane, and started turning shiny after 2 or 3 days of extreme heat (basically right at the same time I got the air conditioner in there). At the time the light was probably 7-8 inches away, and I thought it would stop since I had cooled the room off but it continued getting worse all day yesterday, and I eake up today to a sickly wilted plant with a few really shiny leaves :(

Let me know what you guys think.

Edit: BTW, I know the soil looks soaked. I had let it get almost bone dry (might be wilted from no water, I hope) and I literally woke up, watered, and took the picture so I know over watering isn't the problem. It has plenty of drain holes and perlite

It got too hot in there, way too hot.
The light distance is fine but the air temp needs to come down.

Sounds like you hit it right on the head. Looks like heat stress.

I see you have an AC in there now, but how's your ventilation and air circulation? Best way to combat those temps is to blow the heat off the light and exhaust it outside the grow room.

Well, I have a 6" hurricane inline fan that I bought a little over a week ago. Its a beast; 435 cfm. Its actually the most expensive piece of equipment I've gotten so far.

I wasn't really using it, BC my plant was so small and I had it sitting in the closet, with the window open in the room and a 20" fan in front of the closet to pull the air that way. Temps were staying around 77 and it was working so I didn't change anything.

BUT, I def need to get proper ventilation. Its the last thing that I have to really have my environment complete, plus I have some oxygen tanks that I'm gonna try and fill with co2 and I can't use those until I have my ventilation where I want it.

I was actually thinking of starting a thread to get opinions on the best way to utilize my fan for my space.

Also, can my plant recover from Heat stress? I'm sure it can kill a plant, but do you think mine will survive? And if it does, does it still have potential to he dank?

Its just a bag seed anyways so its basically my practice plant, lol.

But I have 3 good seeds in the dirt, they should be up in a day or two and I want them to do well.

A plant can recover nicely if most of its leaves aren't completely crisped. My guess is in a week or two yours will be just fine. The burnt leaves will never change, but that plant is very young and new growth will be fast. Leave the burnt leaves alone until they drop off on their own. You can make some small mistakes on a grow and still get killer dank at the end. So a little heat stress corrected quickly can be recovered from. A little over nuting corrected quickly can be recovered from. You run into problems when you have A LOT and just hope it goes away, or wait to long to ask more experienced growers about it.

Good luck!

Awesome guys, thanks for the info. I'm planning on practicing LST with this plant as soon as possible, so as long as it lives she's (or he) gonna be my little experiment plant, lol.

All I need now is nute burn, nute lock, nute deficiency, some bugs and some fungus and I'll have experienced most of the things I need to avoid, lol.

Only problems so far were over watering first, and now this. But now that I've got my environment more under control, I should start doing a lot better from here on out.

I did the switch to running lights on (400watt hps) at night... Better temps mate
Man, I definitely thought of doing that but right now the only way for my plants to get fresh air are via an open window in the room. Not to mention, I have light leaks in my closet, so if I ran my dark period during the day I would have to keep my door shut and they wouldn't get any air until the light came on and I could open it.

That, plus I'm afraid the light would leak in and mess up my photoperiods. I reallllllly need to get my ventilation working properly.
