Is this normal?

Hello, I am pretty new to all of this, but wanted to try my hand at growing.
I am using a flourescent lamp, 2 small computer fans, a container lined with aluminum foil. I have read a bit, but still have a lot of reading to do.
My question is:
my plants are growing fast, but they are spindly, about 4 - 5" with only 4 leaves (the top ones), I see other pics and they are about this size and have all kinds of leaves and branches, am I doing something totally wrong or is it just the strain?
I ordered a mixed assortment of indoor seeds, so I don't know what kinds they are.

Bro, since they're CFL's, move the lights alot closer. You can keep them 2-3" away from your plant without harming them. Your plants look really stretched, fix it before they die of a painful death.
