Is this ok to grow under

We need to know the *actual* wattage of each bulb. For insurance 100 watt CFLs are usually an actual wattage of 23w. It will say on the box. Also find the lumens as this can be so,wear helpful.

Are these compact fluorescents? (Usually spiral bulbs).

If these are compact fluorescents, your setup is probably fine for sprouting seeds and very young seedlings. However you will need many more bulbs even if these are 23w bulbs for growing a plant. These bulbs are usually held 2-3 inches from the plant. If you can stick your hand between the bulb and plant and it doesn't burn you are good to go.

Again, invest in more CFL bulbs and get them closer. Better yet, buy a MH or HPS grow lamp. I rocked a 150 w HpS for a long time with great results. 80 dollars from Sun System. Just google "sun system 150 watt hps".

May I also suggest reading any lighting threads (basics) found throughout this great forum.

Good luck.

Id invest in panda film (my favorite), orca film, etc...

Actual mylar is fine.

Random reflector from a tv, maybe not so good. Who knows.

Mylar is considered to be one of the best reflective materials. At 95% reflection. ( I think.) Dimpled alum reflectors with mylar lined walls is a great setup.

Btw mirrors soak up more light then they reflect. There useless and will steal yo lumens!

Hell I would and have used bright white towels before if nothing else around or broke.
