Ok sorry to be a pest but my plant has a few probs and people have said its a ph problem, i just got this ph tester today and am not sure if its working, ive put in a bottle of vinigar and its reading 8, surely if its in pure vinigar it should be reading an high acidic reading ? anyone can help me out with this 1 at all?

yes definately you should see immediate reactions from the vinegar?

try using it in diffrent ph'd liquids. perhaps test your tap water then some vinegar to see if it changes?

if not im araid i think your tester may be in need of a trip to the bin.

Yup must be bust the dile does move once emersed in fluid but goes to 7.5 for everthing, tap water, rain water, vinegar. i got it off ebay but when it came the probe was slightly bent maybe this is the fault?

that could be the problem. the probe being bent isnt resctricting the movement of the needle is it? (catching on the diplay)

nope if i shake it slightly the dile goes from 1 side to the other, its only slightly bent/curved but its got to be broke if its reading 7.5 in vinigar surely lol, thanks for help anyway, its going back to the ebay seller

You can get one just like that at most hardware stores too. I hate to say it but a lot of things on eBay can be real crap sometimes. You have to be very careful on there.

yeh for sure. the slightest drop of vinegar in water drops the ph alot.
your welcome and good luck. they should replace it for you fine.

yep done that, it did make the dile go into the acidic side but gradualy climbed back up to 7, in pure vinegar it should go to the very bottom of the scale right?

fyi those soil ph meters are crap anyway invest a few bucks in a regular water test kit test your run off and pre water and you will be golden

i made the same mistake from the meter and spent 4 hours flushing my plant

those soil ph meters are crap, i have never seen one work accurately. You could use some ph test strips. They are more accurate than the solution, but your best bet would be to use a digital ph meter. They are worth the extra money and will be one of your best investments when it comes to growing
