No it doesn’t! Exactly the vague point I’m trying to make.

it was an honest mistake and even if it wasn’t, you could steal from a small mom and pop shop or some local place that relies on their income or you could steal from a large Corp who under pays their employees and gets massive tax breaks and bailouts, though both are stealing, one impacts the establishment far differently than the other. But this is just my opinion ;) if you will lose your shit by not returning the shoes, there’s no shame, return them to feel right inside yourself :P

Thanks, everyone for helping me make a decision.

I've had a problem these last couple of years with stealing from large companies, nothing big, but small stuff, justifying it as me being some kind of Robin Hood and giving these things to family or friends who need them.

I'm not hard up on cash like I was a few years ago, but it's a bad habit to continue. It's a little bit of a mental illness I think too, I often think of scenarios of how to rob others. Never from the poor but people I know that have abused the system to gain profit. It's like Robin Hood syndrome, is that even a thing? It is also a rush of adrenaline, maybe that is why so many people with large amounts of money are corrupt, they want more to keep feeding that rush.

This has helped with my writing actually which has been a nice bonus. The other problem I have is posting in the politics section on this site, I really want Biden to win so I'm forced to never go there again(side bet with another member here).

Anyways, thanks to all here for listening and giving positive feedback to broken people like me who sometimes need guidance in areas where I struggle.

I don't steal... anymore and try to be honest because of karma. Last time I bought something off of Walmart it broke within 30 days tried to return they said nope, lets not go into that but I got my money worth.

If your over 5 years old, you know the difference between right and wrong. The thing about taking from a big corporation, is you aren't taking money out of the peoples pockets you intend to. The big wigs and board members are getting their money. They'll offset losses to theft in price increases.
The only thing I learned in economics class was the phrase "Theres no such thing as a free lunch". That has stuck with me for 20 years now. Somebody, somewhere, foots the bill in labor or capital for every product on earth.
You did the right thing paying for the shoes. I posted a quote on here the other day that seems applicable. How people treat you is their karma, how you treat them in return is yours.
I dropped $80 in a pawn shop about 10 years ago. Terrible part of town, and inner city pawnshops always have sketchy customers, just the nature of the beast. I didn't realize I lost my money until I went to pay for my groceries. I had $0. I called the pawn shop and explained what happened. Dude cracked up laughing when I asked if anyone had turned it in, but said he would check. He comes back on the phone sounding like he had seen a ghost. Someone turned my money in.
You get out if life what you put in, simple as that.

I left my wallet on top of my car at Boreal in Tahoe and drove off. It was a place where a bunch of young punks snowboarded, including myself. Anyways I though I'd never see it again. Well someone sent my wallet to me, and it still had all the money in it. They didn't even take out a few bucks to send it back. I was just happy to get all the crap back from my wallet and not have to get all new stuff. The money was just a bonus.

But an individual is a little different to me than a huge corporation. So if it was accidently taken from another individual I'd give it back, but Walmart is another story. As long as it really was an accident, I say no negative Karma points.

Why does being nice to others or "doing the right thing" even have to have a name, or idea like karma behind it? The word itself seems so fake and made up, like Valentine's day. If you have to mull over the consequences of a decision, you're probably not as pure as you think.

I would feel very guilty stealing from a mom and pop store but from walmart I guess I feel like they deserve it because I have no feeling of guilt there. I suppose I won't be making employee of the month at the self checkout.

Never from a mom and pop store. Goes without saying and Walmart/home depot/lowes is a whole nother story.

The funny part about my depot dash was that the cashier actually rung me up for a dollar more than actual cost of that wire. Charged me 3.99 a foot rather than 2.99. So really, I was over charged by a dollar :bigjoint:

If you have to ask ? You know the answer. Got 5 1/2 gallon mason jars for the price of one yesterday. I stole 4 of them technically. The fact that the store is robbing us and the clerk was a miserable experience at best does not justify it.

I'll be paying for those jars tomorrow. TY. For making me reconsider. I like karma. And I would hope someone corrected my mistake in their favor.
