Well the roots have looked fine throughout, just the rez water in my last cycle before sealing the light off was a bit funky smelling. The roots have been white throughout, no smell on them.
NopeThat's good, no clear snotty build up either?
Self adjusting pH nutrient lines - get screwed by the use of well water.I'm not using any ca/mg. using well water.
Yes. Daily at lights on.So you recommend manually adjusting the ph, even though it may mess with the ph perfect mix?
Every time I went below 5.6, I had low pH problems start. 5.5-6.2 is the most suggested range. The one most printed in books too. Some are saying here not to go below 5.7, whereas i've read and heard before that going down to 5.2 and letting it swing up 6.4 (to cycle through all the range of nutrients) was a good idea. I'm just trying to pinpoint an estimate at least for where to take the ph to. It rises quickly, I don't see why there would be any lockout if it's moving through the entire range in less than 48 hours.
Yeah the reservoirs did rise back up to 6.2 overnight. I dropped it to 5.5. I'll just do that every morning. Next time around I will be using nutes other than ph perfect. I have a ppm meter coming to test the waterSelf adjusting pH nutrient lines - get screwed by the use of well water.
Have your well water tested - if you have higher Iron content water. That could very well be part of the problem. If you can taste iron at all in the water......start looking at RO systems and add a Greensand or Boron prefilter to remove that iron.

You should be adjusting very 24 hrs. 48 is asking for trouble, at some point.

Just from changing the ph yesterday though...the plants look much better. Within hours I could see them perking up and there was a lot of new growth yesterday, and much of the yellowing has disappeared.View attachment 3980738

Yea so right now it would be damn near 3$ in water every other day!I use RO water I buy for $3.49 or $3 depending on the store for a 5USG jug and the pH Perfect nutes so never bother checking pH. Planning to get my own RO unit with extra pre-filtering as the feed water comes out of the dugout on my property and needs extra cleaning than the 5 micron final filter we use now. I figure a 1 micron followed by a 0.5 micron carbon filter will do the trick.
I was using two jugs every 4 days for most of my last grow. I expect to triple my needs in a few months hence the desire for my own unit. We also buy the RO for our drinking needs but that only uses maybe 10 jugs/mth and is way cheaper than getting crappy town water installed for $15G then paying $60/mth minimum forever.Yea so right now it would be damn near 3$ in water every other day!
Are you a technophobe or what? I've been using the pH Perfect stuff for 3 years now since my older stuff ran out and have not had a deficiency or pH related issue since.I wouldn't trust the advertising for "ph perfect" whatever
id still be adjusting my ph
most people who use an RO don't actually need one
your ph should rise thru the week.. that's what you want
ph goes up and EC/PPM goes down all is good and possibly safe to feed more if you see signs of def
ph goes down and EC/PPM goes up your over feeding
Once you get a bunch of grows under your belt you'll wonder why you ever worried about shit. It's a Zen thing man. I used to go fishing with a buddy that was always switching lures or flies and trying every damn thing in his tackle box to get a fish. I went out for a nice hike in the mountains and commune with nature. If the fish gods were happy with my vibe I'd catch them when they didn't seem to be biting for anyone else. A little WD-40 on the wool under the spin-and-glo would get me a nice salmon or steelhead if my vibe was off too.Yea I hear ya. I'm too new for any part of my proccess to be carefree lol. I'll find a way to fuck it up just watch!
Hahaha I do agree that I have mothers first child syndrome as well. If you have had children you know what I mean how the first one you get worried about every bump and bruise, then the following kids your like ah fuck it they will be fine. What would you suggest I use for water then? The town water and my dugout water is total crap. Very high alkali around 350 - 500ppm. Farmer runoff in my dugout with lots of RoundUp and other chem the prick sprays 10 times a year not 50ft from the dugout.
I'd bet that the majority of indoor growers with problems can trace their grief to their water. You can't keep putting mineral laden water into a pot without it building up in there like the scale inside a kettle. Then it makes the pH stay high no matter what you do unless you flush every so often depending on how hard your water is.
For me using RO means never having to flush or even chang nutes in hydro if I don't want to tho I try to do a nute change in DWC after the stretch. No way I could do that with even better town water.
The technology works. You may be skeptical but I've proven it to myself dozens of times now.
