Is this what is refered to as root bound ?

Just finished my first ever proppa grow 2 white widows got 6 and a half ounces of good to smoke dry bud so alls well ? Untill i just emptied the 2 pots that grew my gals in and this is what the roots looked like !!

I am guessing its root bound but as i dont no what root bound looks like i am just guessing here, if it is root bound what can i do to avoid this next time and also how shud the roots look ?

I use 10 gallon pots and the roots are all over the surface. They'll use whatever room you give the roots

Yeah - I don't think the roots matter as much indoors as they would in natural, because the plants are receiving an artificially high level of nutrients. It isn't like the roots need to grow out and find nutrients, because they are just going to get nutrients dumped on them.

Or, just learn from experience. It's not just the nutrients.

Heres a question...I use 6L HYDRO pots and they basically let the roots go everywhere in the flood tray and the resevoir once they outgrow the pots which is usually in three weeks. Is this bad to let them free roam and mingle with each other instead of having them segregated? Just wondering if i should get some 20L Buckets instead of letting them overtake the whole hydro foundation?

But if you want the plant is continue growing you need to transplant into a bigger pot :)
