is UV light ok for organics? And supplementary lighting questions.

Yep I run them as close as a few inches in seedling stage and up near my bar lights in flower. The T5's gives a bit more UVA then UVA leds but still might want to test your cultivars first grow and make sure they like it. I hear some don't. I've only seen benefits so far. People say it reduces yield but I haven't seen it. I do disable them in early flower when I turn on my red's but back on after mid flower to end.

Here's a bigger pic of the grow in my avatar. Had one that prayed like in every direction. I'm still waiting for my tent to fall apart. I applied some uv protectant to try and give me a few extra runs hopefully. View attachment 4893813

I think UV would affect the tops first.. it's pretty noticeable if UVB burn. Since it's UVA and it looks like only a few of the leaves are affected.. its prob the foliar like you said.

also fwiw... I also use flower initiators and sleep initiators. Basically the same light but one with 660nm taped off for the sleep. I used foil tape and hadnt had any issues with heat. (esp for the min's it'd be running) You can see it hanging in the rear of the tent. iirc each strip with taped off 660nm gives you 12leds of 730nm. You can also see the full strip hanging up between the bars. It doesn't take much.. here is a pic of just the IR from the webcam.5 x 5_5 x 5_main_20210107091335.jpg

I have a 730nm "sleep initiator", which I run starting 10 minutes before lights on until 15 minutes after lights off. Some times I will do start of day and end of day only, during the first few weeks of flower if it's an especially stretchy strain or I've over vegged. It does seem to shave a few days off flowering, with no noticeable loss in yield. As far as UV, I will sometimes use a Agromax PureUV T5 lamp, which has both UVA and UVA, and with that I use short (15-20 minute) "bursts" of UV 3 or 4 times a day, with the bursts spread an hour apart.

the 730s? depends on the size of your grow... I'm using 12 leds in a 5x5 and think it's overkill. I didn't think so at first but after seeing the tent lit up through the cam, I didn't have any doubts. not all leds are created equal tho.

at what point do you crank up the power on the lights? is it rite on flip day, or do you build up towards 12/12?im talking abt the main lights.

just hit end of week 1 flower. It seems like the added lights have made some interesting effects on the stretch, this strain was real short last couple grows. could be the soil is getting better as well, dunno.

I guess this is were the real fun and games start, got excessive nitrogen on the front right plant. haven't done anything different for ages. blu-mats have been doing there job, drinking loads now though.
hopefully we can get there, its been the best grow so far, especially going into 12/12.not too many problems. you guys will probably spot a lot, so let me know.

they seem to like whatever you're doin. Prayin pretty hard. I went through the same thing with my reds.. I put them on the side originally and plants grew right past them. heh I ended up moving them up in between my bar lights

the bloom light reminds me of those cheap blurple lights.it seems well built.dimmed to abt 20%.
we shall see how it goes.IMG_0216.JPG
