you and my brother share the same first name..your wife's name at birth was in top 10 and more like top 5 of girls names.
why would your parents..your wife's parents name their babies such "common" names?
you've never had a baby so you can't answer from experience.

they liked "luc" or "luke" but too many lucas' so they went with lucien..with the future thought of his nick being luc/luke.
interestingly, #1 is jackson (mason, too) i predict this will fall to the wayside and has the potential to become a "white trash" name..just like misty, tiffany, brandy, chrystal are stripper names..ie; jackson mi.
when i was growing up those names were great!..i was jealous..i was named after an important french symbol (same spelling)..why? because back then anything having to do with france was a big deal..are you aware that president kennedy had DC redux because jackie bouvier had french ancestry and was so in love with the architecture? you should read about how DC's makeover came to be in the 60's..it's meant to look like versaille, TTBOMK.
i have no middle name. why? because my mom felt that with my first name and my clearly ethnic and very long last name, that was enough. strangely, i've always felt different from everyone else because i didn't and growing up was a pain in the ass..everyone always wanted to spell my name any way but and forget about my last name..i had to pronounce for everyone, all the time..kids made fun of me. it sucked.
i would have been happy to have a popular name of the time..like you and your wife have.

further, @UncleBuck, i challenge you to set the call to prayer alarm on your phone, when it goes off choose any one of the many versions of adnan and play it 5x /day in your home..do it for a week..tell me how your wife is going to like with her being jewish? would it be okay? do you even know?

I was reading an article, in the Journal of Psychology, online yesterday. It was about stress. And I was more interested in the main focus, which was about successful men, of course.
But, I came into a section about self imposed stress. And they talked about how people pressurize themselves and that is not all bad, can be motivating etc. Then they gave the example of racism. And the funny thing was they talked about how racism is less stressful day to day for those that experience it.
Do you know who they measure the highest stress about racism? Yep. Specifically it is those that see it everywhere, real or not.
It not who gets or gives it. No the stressed out here, are the ones that stress themselves and everyone around with these constant cries of RACIST.

IS threatens to kill Japan hostages, Tokyo vows not to give in.
The Islamic State group threatened to kill two Japanese hostages unless it receives a $200 million ransom within 72 hours, but Tokyo vowed Tuesday it would not give in to "terrorism".
IS has murdered five Western hostages since August last year, but it is the first time that the jihadist group -- which has seized swathes of Syria and neighbouring Iraq -- has threatened Japanese captives.
In footage posted on jihadist websites, a black-clad militant brandishing a knife addresses the camera in English, standing between two hostages wearing orange jumpsuits.
"You now have 72 hours to pressure your government into making a wise decision by paying the $200 million to save the lives of your citizens," he says.
The militant says that the ransom demand is to compensate for non-military aid that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe pledged to support countries affected by the campaign against IS during an ongoing Middle East tour that on Tuesday saw him in Jerusalem.
But the Japanese government said it would not bow to extremism.
"Our country's stance -- contributing to the fight against terrorism without giving in -- remains unchanged," chief government spokesman Yoshihide Suga told a news conference in Tokyo.
An official in the foreign ministry's terrorism prevention division had said earlier that the government was investigating the threat and the authenticity of the video.
Since August, IS has murdered three Americans and two Britons, posting grisly video footage of their executions.

When I was in Seattle a few years ago it looked like White Detroit. The grunge neglect and the trash in the streets in the same effect as in Detriot but doesn't come from racism. It is just white guilt and angst, don't care.
I had to throw a bag lady out of a fancy restaurant, on the wharf, my self. She was begging bites of food, table to table. And have you every seen a black bag lady so condescending? No. This was an old white gal. All the staff was just wringing their hands like they hoped she would leave soon but there was nothing they could do. It was upsetting the entire restaurant. I had it when the guy next to me growled something to her and she screamed NO. And the guy's kid started crying.
Now what did this old gal do, when I began to physically escort her out? She turned and reached behind her back and said with all hate, "I have a knife and I will cut you." So, all I could do, was spin her back around by the elbow, that was supposedly going for the knife. Defense 101.
And I hissed in her ear, so only she could hear, "If you pull a knife on me I will gut you with it." Well that broke through her mind cloud. And she deflated and shuffled off.
I turn around and here is the Jr Manager, all pissed off. He begins with, "Sir, I have to ask you to leave." But, the restaurant is cheering me. So, I said, "No." If you try that, I will call the the Health Dept, right now. You know you are not allowed to have her beg at tables."
Seattle is PC gone crazy, and it is a grunge filthy city, some the worse I have seen.
