Isn't growing a lot like cooking?

I totally agree, but soon there will be hoards ...hoards of organic guys here discussing soil recipes, so I'll just stick to my kelp teas ...lol

Growing hydro is like baking...have to be precise with quantities and measurements.......... growing in soil is more like cooking, throw your soil mixture together, bung in a handful of this and a handful of that and let the plant tell you if needs some more seasoning along the way.

I have a 2 yr degree in culinary arts and was a chef for around 10 yrs. patience is the key and don't rush things. too much heat and you cook the outside but the inside is raw. and never use bad food/nutes, either way you'll be on the shitter or get nute lockout. lol

....This explains why I stick to soil growing. I dont want to have to think too hard and take all the fun out of it. Even diving into the PH practice was too much for my brain. A handful of dolomite lime pitched at the right time works.

No, I don't think cooking and growing are that much alike, at all. Cooking is processing food, growing is letting nature do its thing. Nr 1 mistake of growers is to think they grow the buds rather than the plant. All a grower should do is create an optimal environment (includes medium and nute solution) and let the plant do its thing. It's kinda like cooking an egg I guess...

Replace soil mixture with 'soup' or nutrient solution and you got growing on hydro covered with that analogy as well.

Hydro is actually much easier than soil. Ph doesn't need to be as precise as most think, same for ppm. And if you messed up the soup, you simply start over - try that on soil :)

Everyone's looking for the microwave equivalent for cannabis. Minutes vs hours. I shouldn't say everyone, but a lot of people are. Hot pocket vs fine dining. You get what you pay for, usually a little less.
