ISO: Grow box, LED growing.

To introduce myself, Im new to the forums and new to growing, looking for help, not to be flamed. I'm not ordering anyone to look this stuff up (I have been doing a lot of research since i"m new to growing, no one should have to tell me a lot, Google is my best friend. I'm really just looking for the imagination and the scientific development in our Extended family of users.

So my "room" doesn't give me a lot of room to work with. The closet is essentially where I want to grow. I have general Ideas of a grow box, but nothing really firm. I am willing to invest some into this, I know it will take some if not more. Guessing maybe about ~$100. I would like to use some type of filter to reduce the odor or eliminate it. I would like for the plant to be ~4 feet. Dwarfing Sativa and Indica, 2 plants, 3 at the most. Grow box doesn't need to look pretty, just needs to work and do its job.


As for LED lights, I know there are certain nanometers to use and what not and I know most of them in the red and blue. But i was looking at this as well. Anyone have any insight?

I will be very active on this topic. Thank you so much everyone who will help and support me. Oh yah, im doing this for a reason, not just because its different. My electric is high as it is, so no can do on 3 cfls and such. As well as, the room is hotter then hell already lol LEDS generate next to nothing in heat.

So you're going to stick it out with just the LED? That should be interesting. I don't think that anything less than a Procyon has any chance of getting you through flowering. Most LED mfgs at this point are recommending supplementing with other lighting.

any other suggestions with heating and electricity?

I recently picked up one of those UFO LEDs and have 2 diesel ryders and 2 Auto Hindu Kushs germinatin so I can try and see what this UFO can do. UFO has 3 built in fans that might help you with heat and allow some extra cfl lighting or something. However its expensive as hell i think and would never have dreamed of buyin it if i didnt get it for 100 bux from a friend.

Hmm. Any ideas on a grow box? and how I should grow? soil in what? maybe Rubbermaid ideas?! idk im high lol

You're growing in a closet, right? How about just using plastic film and velcro to create a 2nd (lightproof) door?
You're going to need to get some ventilation in there anyway. Regardless of what you've ever heard, you will need a fresh air supply and fans to accomplish this if your are going to succeed.
As far as electricity is concerned, even 4 - 2' T5 Strip lights would use less electricity than a 100w incandescent light bulb. You could even use a couple of 42W CFLs depending on your setup. Either will greatly increase your yield. You could easily offset this on your power bill by switching the other bulbs in your house to CFLs.

Tysvm Aeroking, The closet has a nice aluminum door to it, but I was wanting it in a grow box so light wont blare through and so i can use a DIY carbon filter for smell. Ill be using a little small purifier too for healthier conditions. I was thinking about using a small in width 5 drawer dresser as a grow box.
