Nice looking runs man. I recently got a vape pen, and its cool enough, but like ROor said, you gotta try dabbing it. My preferance is a nail over a skillet or anything else but thats just me. I got a nice little add on for my bong which uses a 14mm nail, and works awesome. It only set me back $60 but came with everything including a dabber.

I personally put straight from harvest to the freezer. Never weigh em, but generally 3oz or so. I usually get 10-15% running the whole plant....lasts almost a week for me but I smoke a lot.

8% return isnt that great, do you use a lot of trim?

8?
Oz-28 gs x 16 for the lb bout 450.. 8% would be more like 40.... someone help me my calculator is tripping

Lol nothing to see here folks.. :)

I generally do smaller runs, 10g of bud or more if its trim. It all depends on what i have around. A couple months ago I did a 4 oz run, and got a 10+g return which was sweet! I've only ran bud a few times, but have got about 15% return every time so far. I've got a powernap wash evaping right now that was done from 10g of almost fresh bud. We'll see how the weight turns out.

Edit : I think it would be like 13.5% return qwizo, pretty good.

It depends if it is nugs or trim. If it is nugs, I prefer using 10g but at least 5g. Trim I usually go 30g. How are your returns using trim instead of nugs Thunder?

Side note to OP, where are the guides?!

My returns have been relatively similar between 9-15% for both depending on the various strains I've ran now. The color and terpenes is where I can tell the difference. The bud material has better smells and tastes, and always turns out yellower and light colored.

You guys are on it. Hers the pics!

Heres the powernap. You can see the edges waxed up, and the center stayed more clear and solid.

Here is the Sin's OG bud run I did a few days ago, and scraped last night. I didn't get a pressed pic of it, but its a beatiful gold shatter.

It came from this bud.

Currently the second wash of the Sin's OG is evaping. This afternoon I did a large wash (for me) of all Sweet Deep Grapefruit trim/small buds (enough to fill 2 quart jars 3/4 full). It was fresh frozen, so I have no clue on the weight, but I used a total of 1.5 quarts of ISO to wash it all. Its in the freezer filtering atm, and I'll be starting to evap it later tonight.

The results on evaporating the milky are in. The dish had spots of oil and alot of clear areas. I scraped the oil spots seperate since the purpose of this was the see what the rest of the stuff in the milky is. Came out crystal powder but had a amber tint and melted beautifully. So if there is any iso residue it must be so minimal it is insignificant. Any other ideas?
the oils are soluble in alcohol but not in water. at the beginning of purge the liquid is alcohol with a little water in it. the alcohol evaporates first, then the water. when the % of alcohol drops below the percentage that can dissolve the oils, the oil crystallizes out of solution. the same thing happens with absinthe and other anise booze when you add water to it. it probably forms a powder because the water keeps the oil drops from touching each other. hth

Wow I gotta try this... It looks so easy & I have everything I need on hand... I'll post some pics when I'm done. Thanks everyone for sharing your knowledge on this thread. I learned so much today

tc thats got a great color to it.This pic has made me want to make some iso today which i havnt done in alteast a month. Are you using heat at all because that is how I made my iso cookies. I see yours is waxing up on the edges and the way I make my cookies is evap completely..scrape.. place on heat..whip once..than back on low low heat until it starts the puff-up and cookie. The lower the heat the better the color I keep on the cookie. Once you get the temps down and time to do it all its like riding a bike. If you were using heat and thats what you got than you were on the right track, if thats what you're looking for. anyways peace riu!

Hey roor ty! The only heat I am using is the warm air that comes out of my dehumidifier, and a little off my fingers when I press the powder into a mass. When I first started making qwiso I was using heat to evap, and my flavor, color, and texture were all suffering I think. I've had a few different bud runs wax up on me, but it was pretty much naturaly as the oils dried I suppose. Now I evap with my dish on top of my dehumidifier, and have been getting much nicer oils I think. I'm about to get go my second wash of Sin's OG and scrape it, then start the evap on this Sweet deep grapefruit wash I did yesterday.

I agree 100%, its best to evap naturally and no source of heat. You def have things down! In my opinion I think its best to evap with no source of heat and than do a purge with a low heat. You than have a great product starting point to budder something up or make it into a cookie. I have never been able to get the consistencies that I like without a low heat purge. I wish I was working with buds like you guys those are pretty frosted!

Only a small amount of my oil is bud oil. Most of the stuff I run is trim. I've recently done a few bud runs just to fully capture the characteristics of those strains.

Gotta have heat for it to wax, it would be interesting to hear which side you had the warm air blowing on. guarantee you find a correlation. Waxing temp is best just above melting point..I would assume the air off your dehumidifier or whatever you use is about 100 degrees...my personal opinion(though science backs it up) is that qwiso makes the best single washed extract, no contest.. again my opinion is that a trained monkey could make an exceptional bho, you just blast and purge. Qwiso takes alot more technique and is more of an art I suppose......safest too

But uh what's a cookie? I normally make fun of peoples hash saying it looks like a cookie or brownie

You don't need heat to complete the purge.. and yes tc seems to have methodology down to a t (hehe t , tc...idk lol I think that's funny) now just work on getting that color a little nicer:)
A properly purged iso end product should be a powder...hence my avatar...the thinner the film the better.. the white powder on my blade or tcs powder is in my opinion how you know its properly purged...if for whatever reason you have a multicolored creamy sludge it should be redissolved in iso just a bit and spread thin if you don't want to ruin it with heat....I see a lot of people trying to purge the collected chunk of iso and it won't purge the inside.. it must be thin sheet...when you scrape you end up with little crystals of qwiso.......thus the cause of people not being able to purge out all the iso and the recent threads about it........felt that needed to be said

i have posted many pics of what im talking about. More of a honeycomb substance. And I agree any monkey can blast bho but iso is definitely an art. You dont need heat to complete a purge but for I want I think you do. I dont prefer shatter or even waxy products. I also dont have time to sit for a week to wait for my iso to dry out to crumble or a powder. I speed this up by using heat but I think im preaching to the choir with you. I think both of our participation in this thread can speak for both of us.

So I just evaped a wash and the dish had 3 areas of distinctly different looking product. (I assume it is due to the dish not being level and the solution evaporating quicker in different spots) one looked like oil mostly clear and amber which scraped into dark wet putty. The second was likely the thinniest and looked like a white film which scraped to pure white crystals then turned golden a few seconds after scraping. The final area was a mix of the two. Tiny almost opaque golden oil drops in the white film. I kept them in separate piles in the dish and then placed in a hot bath to purge any residuals and also to melt the crystals into one peice. The white crystals turned to shatterand the oily ones turned to a wax. Will loft pics when I'm no so high
