Issues with Hermi's

What the hell I've grow in soil, 5 gal buckets tried 4 different strains all 4 hermied. 1st grow was the best, hermied very late and just a few seeds. My question is how many of you guys have hermi issues from time to time. Kind of pissing me off I waste a couple of months vegging then a month or so into flower boom, seeds everywhere. WTF. yah I get okay smoke but also a shitload of seeds to clean out. I don't want to get into a discussion about seedbanks, strains, or nutes too many variables and opinions vs real research. What I would like to discuss is how many others have had frequent hermi issues and if they solved them what did they do? Cheers

bingo bango. Not just light though, several types of stress can cause a plant to hermie

I don't have any light leaks, pretty easy for me to check. I am wondering tho how long will pollen stay viable and how difficult is it too clean up Cheers

it will stay viable for a fairly long time, enough to contaminate your next crop
pretend its a bug and take the neccasary precautions whe u harvest, completely scrub down room with a bleach and water mixture, u will need to thouroughly clean out all air ducts/fans etc and make sure you wash your clothes and have a shower before re-entering ur grow room

how about cultural practices like topping or supercropping. Does anyone know if these increase the odds of hermi's?

If the plants keep going hermi ( and you have tried different strains, companys etc) then theres obviously 1 or more stress factors that you are overlooking in your grow room, basically its your fault.

Light leaks. ?
Over / underwatering. ?

Pollen still viable in room/ fans / filters. (if u got the $£) i buy all extraction & fans etc again or at least clean it really really well , as in taking the whole thing apart and cleaning it inside out.

To turn a plant hermi by way of stress the stress factor would of been consistent.

light leaks - sit in the pitch black room for 5min ,then look for leaks ,seen them cause hermies and it takes time for your eyes to adjust ,you normally wouldnt see right away

undo stress - grower error

feminized seeds - common issue, male and females were made to breed ,not female on female - lots of "pollen chuckers" out there these days ,a vast majority of the seed industry does not sell STABLE strains anymore ,and so many great clones were bagseed and just prone to hermi

I have a current grow that nanner'd and no real reason why ,I am using water from a well ,used more ph down then I ever have,so I am going to try RO water for the next grow and see how it goes

cant really add anything that has not already been said
