I'v heard that giving your clones a miled bloom nute farmula will help them root

No need for nutes. No roots to take em up. Tap water will be just fine. I just use tap water with 100% success.

I also read this in a grow book, posted a thread and people thought I was crazy, lol.

I believe the phosphorous is good for the stalk or the roots or something, according to the book. But honestly the plant can only barely absorb nutrients before it gets its roots.

I'm sure there has been some benefit found in someone's studies out there somewhere, but I would at least wait until you start seeing roots or white bumps on the stalk before adding it. And like you said, not too much at all.

Most water out of the tap is 7-7.2 pH. When you adjust it down with phosphoric acid, you are introducing a minor nutrient profile to the clone. However, I prefer to use a 1/4 strength nutrient solution, grow or bloom, makes no real difference. This way, the moment the roots begin forming, they can get a jump start on growth. I tried it recently with dropping the nutrient solution entirely and found the plants take longer to root and look much crappier. To be sure, they all rooted. But the 1/4 strength solution is best in my experience.

its actually potassium that helps form roots but not from cuttings. better to let it root first then give it a balanced fert. after you plant it

I'm in the "no nutes until rooted" boat. Just be sure your tap water is the correct pH and actually decent water. My city tap water has trace arsenic and crazy high pH (like mid to high 7's) so it has damaged and killed my clones/seedlings before I knew how shitty it was.

It helps. I feed my plants bloom nutrients before I cut clones and then put a mild bloom solution into my aero cloner and it works every time. This is a common recommended practice. Don't listen to people that say that the plants don't take up water without roots. Put a cutting in a glass of water and one in an empty cup. Only one will wilt. In my cloner I use a 150-200 ppm solution. Mainly bloom nutrients and then an additive.

This is not accurate. The plants still take in nutrients through the stomata. Hence being able to do foliar feeding. The clones need nutes to grow and develop properly. I do want to know how much bloom to use for rooting clones though!

Tap water has trace minerals that are micronutrients for plants ie chlorine, calcium, iron, etc. Clones need nutrients, as they are growing new tissue.

Holy necro post batman lol
Lol I know. But I’m looking for the answer. I am out of what I normally use - a root excelurator and clonex rooting solution in RO. I’ve heard of a low dose of bloom being good due to the P and K. Not any helpful responses thus far.
