I started some bag seeds about 6 weeks ago. Wanted to get some smidge of experience under my belt before working with seeds I ordered from Herbie's.

In the meantime, I hit the jackpot on Craigslist and scored a 400w HPS/MH set up, 2 4' flourescent fixtures with bulbs, extra bulbs, Alaska ferts, and a bunch of other stuff (fans, ratchets, etc).

Now, the seeds from Herbie are growing fine, BUT so are all of the bag seed plants!!! 18 of them!!!

I know I need some experience under my belt. The bag plants are a good test. But I hate to kill them off!!!

Any advice?

^ some good advice from the last 2 posts.
You have all the equipment to run 2 rooms.
Take some clones from the better looking bag seed plants and put them under the 400 on a 12-12 cycle.
Keep the Herbies under the fluorescents and start some LST.

You bitten off a bit more than you can chew with all those plants.
Be Happy!

Similar situation my first time Zo. I popped 6 bag seeds, lost 2 in veg and the other 4 all turned female. I wasn't prepared for 4 ladies at once if I'm being honest but I settled in with info readily available in here. Keep me posted on how many baggers turn female, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Was the weed in the bag with the seeds garbage? Why would they not be as good as seeds you order online?

Some of the most renowned strains around came from bag seeds. Not to mention A lot of those bag seeds were probably a result of self pollinating females!

I wish I still had some of my old bag seeds and the males.
That weed was just as good as the weed I have now.

Not just any weed though.
It has to be special.

I would be a rich man if I had saved a handful of seeds from the skunk I used to get as a kid in the early 90's. I will never forget the smell. Exactly like a skunk. I still get nostalgic when we drive near a dead skunk in the car. The strain is now seemingly extinct and there are a lot of breeders who would love to be the one to reintroduce it.

Thanks everyone for the advice! Much appreciated. To answer a few Q's:

My problem with having 18 bag seed plants if space, pots and growing medium. I honestly thought that 1) about half would germinate, 2) half would be male, and that a few would die. Oops on the first! the second and third are TBD.

I certainly don't want to disparage bag seed. It was gifted to me by a friend along with just a bit of weed. That little bit was quite good, but all of the seeds aren't from that sample. So, I literally have a "mixed bag!"

After I set up my florescent lights today I'll have enough liight and space for the time being. I'll also take a shot at cloning some of the bagsters. A number of them appear to be doing quite well.

I'll post updates on my grow journal.

Thanks again!

Z
