Jack's Professional Fertilizer

I too just purchased Jack's Duo after reading many good success stories.
I am just looking for...

Quality Nutrients
Good Price
Simple to Use
Provides great finished results

My plan is to just use the classic 20-20-20 for the veg state and Jack's Bloom for the flowring stage. Did you guys say that you have to add more micronutrients to this mix?
I am hoping that I don't.

Yes, I read in a tomato technical bulletin recommended for Jack's Classic
that you can add 1 tsp of Epsom salt to the 20-20-20 application to provide some additional magnesium. As magnesium is part of the chlorophyll molecule and important in the photosynthesis.

Unless anyone objects to using epson salt, it sounds like an important addition.

Yeah true that the gen purpose does not have a lot of mag but this thread is about the PRO line and there are formulas that do have mag, I know cause I use one of them :)

if you only use the bloom in flower, you may end up with a N def. They recommend alternating veg and bloom,or mix them half and half

I've read so many different variations of different values and recommendations for veg and flowering. My understanding is that flowering requires a higher Phosphorous value and Potassium value. Outside of that I believe the correct amount depends on your specific variables. What type of plant you are growing, they all vary. What type of nutrients you already have available in your soil also will make a difference.

Jack's blossom Booster value is 10-30-20. When I reach the flowering stage I plan to start with 1/4 dosage and move up to full in stages. During the initial 1/4 dosage would be the only time I could see where a Nitrogen deficiancy might present itself, but not sure. I haven't read a huge need for nitrogen values during flowering. I would love to hear from others if they have more information on this though.

High P in flower is bunk, these were grown with 400 watt cmh lights and only 20-10-20 from start to finish, wet weight was over 4000 grams you should read my threads (sig links)

Hello riddle,

I will surely read your threads, but I thought you were one who recommended getting Jack's Classic and Bloom.
Now I'm confused. If you had recommended using Jack's Classic which is a 20-20-20 blend why are you now advocating the use of 20-10-20? The more I read about nutrients and fertilizers the more I seem to get confused :) ... Everyone recommends different. But I guess that will never change. We all have our success stories using different things.. I've seen awsome grows where people have used nothing but soil from a bag.

Since I did buy Jack's classic and bloom at this point I am just looking for instructions on how I can use it for my outdoor grow.

P.S. Can you send me a sample of some of those buds to try ... (haha).

Do the dynamic duo thing in equal amounts it changes the npk to 15-25-20 plus if growing outdoors higher P is needed, just not indoors

and sure come on over I give buds away all the time

Thanks Riddle...

Ok I figured out how you came to the 15-25-20.... by doing this >>>

Use the original Jacks Classic 20-20-20
Mix 1/2 dose 10-10-10

Use the original Jack's Blossom Booster 10-30-20
Mix 1/2 does 5-15-10

Add the (2) does together
10-10-10 + 5-15-10 = 15-25-20

So you recommend doing this for what, the veg state?
If so, what do you recommend for the bloom?

Check this out, I found this link that describes totally different recommendations...
http://marijuana-seeds-weed.com/usage-of-nutrients-fertilizer-feeding/

This is their recommdation for any type of plants..
Use a 20 – 20 – 20 fertilizer blend during the germination stage.
Use a 30 – 30 – 10 blend during the vegetation stage.
Use a 20 – 30 – 30 blend during the flowering stage.

Now you see why it is so confusing....

Oh and I will definitely pay you a visit in Colorado to sample some of those choice buds if I ever make it over there.

go find grow journal by member RockyMountainHigh he uses jack's the same way I told you and your math is off if mixing equal amounts of 2 nutes you add the 2 npk values and divide by 2, you got there just differently, I will add a pic of me in his garden

I wouldn't say my math was off since I came up with the same formula you did, I just calculated a different way.
Your way is just a bit easier :).

Nice picture of yourself... a giant bud with arms (haha)..

Oh and you seemed to overlook my last question regarding Jack's Duo...
I just wanted to clarify...

What formula do you recommend for veg?
What formula do you recommend for Flower?

You advised to use 15-25-20, but did not specify if this was for veg, flower, or both?
And to clarify I am doing an outdoor grow, not indoor.

Thanks for putting up with all my questions...
I'm just trying to get on the right track so I can hopefully produce some decent results.

I didn't answer because I don't do a formula, I give the plants what they need, I also do not follow a schedule, I let the plants decide and I follow them, my ways are very different, I break all known rules and grow big buds everytime.

If I was to grow outdoors I would alternate the general purpose with the dynamic duo as the plants needs dictate the whole way thru, I gave this same advise to RMH last year and he has never looked back

Ive hear nothing but good things about jack. I've been using advanced and wanting to switch to something else that won't rape my pocket. I've had nothing but good results with AN but I want something cheaper. Anyone has experiences with jack and coco medium? Would I still need to amend cal/mag?

so i have to mix concentrated solutions and use those in my rez? that SUCKS. i was hoping to just add the pro into the rez... stir until dissolved then do the same for the calnit

You can do either really. I don't have experience with Jack's Hydro, but it's the same for any dry nutrients. You can add the solids directly to your reservoir by mass, or you can make stock solutions and add by volume.

Stock solutions are a matter of convenience because it's easier to use a syringe to measure in mL than a scale to measure in grams or mg. Also, the more dilute the stock solution, the less instrumentation error you will have (this matters when measuring micro salts like sodium molybdate or manganese sulfate). It's near impossible to use a scale to add micro salts directly to a reservoir accurately because you need such small amounts (milligram or less) , but that's moot point if you're using jacks.

For example, if you add 100g of calcium nitrate to a 1L bottle and fill the rest with distilled/RO water, you have a 100g/L (or 0.100g/mL) stock solution of calcium nitrate. That means if you want to add 1 gram of calcium nitrate, you can just add 10mL of the stock solution. Or you could just add 1g of calcium nitrate directly to the reservoir.

if i weigh out the numbers needed to get my 100 gallons mixed to desired ppms, i can take the weighed nutrient and measure its volume. that way in future i can just measure out dry in volume rather than weight. nice and simple without dealing with jugs
