Jar questions

fuck the hygrometer, I take a bud out start breaking it up to smoke to see if its ready to be sealed, I know where I like my buds to be at to smoke, and you shouldn't have any problem telling if a bud is to wet to seal, its quite noticeable. Idk Im not for the stupid proof cure,
That doesn't really work for people who don't have much (or any) experience...to risk ruining 4 months worth of time and effort just sort of winging it! I'd prefer a hygrometer and some boveda packs and the "stupid proof cure" over trying to just wing it and hoping for the best.

I would be worried the boveda pack might import flavor since it seems to release moisture. I don't think I will try them anyways since my first cure turned out perfect. I can see where it could be cool not to have to worry about mold in jars but I keep a sharp eye on my nugs.

Thats a misconception of weed I hear a lot about. The only way you can ruin weed is if it's too wet and molds out. Properly grown weed doesn't need much.

You guys are over thinking this shit. This is where the industry is going to boom. The home grower who's got disposable income to get a bunch of hardware.

You can't ruin buds by over drying if they are grown well. No amount of curing will make shitty buds good.

Those Arts&Crafts stores often have MASSIVE mason jars with air-tight lids. It's crazy how big they are. Obviously, we're all curing in glass jars. One tip I got from that 420growguy on YouTube is, for the first 2 weeks of curing, to flip the circular-metal section of the Ball mason jar lid upsidedown, and then twist the lid closed. This way, the seal isn't 100% air-tight; allowing for some margin of error in your cure. Cause sometimes I just forget to burp a jar or two. But.... also, the goal is to be able to dry it, and throw it in a jar at the exact right humidity point, so that you never need to burp it at all; it'll just chill in there until it's cured and ready to smoke.

I have to disagree with that post. Cannabis stops curing if the RH drops below 55%. Mold is a threat over 70%. Sure if you want to grow some bag weed and you plan on using it up in a few weeks, paper bags and sandwich bags will work just fine. There is nothing worse than dried out bud and as the market grows, consumers are going to raise the standards of acceptable product.

I agree the marijuana industry preys upon the uneducated and inexperienced. But in my opinion, drying and curing can make or break the bud quality. Spending a couple bucks on hydra packs, hydrometers, and glass jars is a worthwhile investment. An yes, you have to start with properly grown bud harvested at the right time if you want any chance of getting great results after the dry and cure. No doubt.

At the end of the day, we should all just do what makes sense to us! I like the idea that a couple hygrometers in a couple of my jars will give me a little bit more peace of mind, especially in my first grow/harvest/dry/cure, that I'm within the right margin humidity wise. Now, after I have done all of this once, I'll have a better idea of what it should feel like, look like, smell like...etc. And I might not need to use these things anymore, for sure.

winging it, I didn't have exp, doing it my first go around, u use your head. If you rely on technology over your own common sense, your in for trouble in a lot of areas. heres a hint if you find yourself tearing your bud apart, its probably too wet. go ahead, spend 100-125 bucks on a multitude of hygrometers and alternate them, its not my $ and effort. But it really doesn't need to be that complicated

Hygrometers are available for £5
All the commercial an pro growers use them
Or you can believe some guy on the internet who's attempting to sound like a master grower.

I spend 5.00@ for my hygrometers/thermometers i use from walmart. fits nicely in my 1/2 gal wide mouth jars. I have 20 hygrometers/thermometers, and 20 1/2 gal jars. all 20 hygrometers are +/-1% from each one. keep your expensive 15.00 hygrometer, ill stick with my 5.00 one. can also be found at home depot/lowes/kmart, ect.
