JDOs DIY PC GrowBox 125w CFL LST Grow

John Doe Ontario here with another grow for your pure viewing pleasure. My computer has been on the fritz for a few years now and finally gave its last effort last night (just as I was informed of another ESO Beta). So instead of throwing it out or at a wall, I started looking into micro grows. Saw a lot of cool ones that made some decent looking bud. Ive got some time to kill, and a dead pc.

After a late night of tearing the computer apart, and rebuilding it as a growbox. I headed out today to grab a cfl with some decent power and hooked it up in my pc growbox. The fan is 3 speeds, one for exaust and a smaller for the intake. Its a 125w 6500k cfl light, the seed is not an auto just a random kush from a bag. I will be running 12/12 from seed and scrogging. Soil is 25%/75% wormcasting to promix. RO water and the AN line for food.

Heres a picture of the box and the lucky seed. Oh and some of the bud I was smoking through this.

Clearly had some heating issues on my test run. Since then I have added 2 more cpu fans and running another test at the moment. I added one facing the light at the end and one above it. Here are some pictures..

Nice start! Do you think the one fan above your CFL will bring the heat to your lady?
No need for this I think! Might be wrong though, run your tests!!

No its more to try and push the top hot air down cause my exaust is just lower then the cfl.

Temps were around 83-86f and are down to about 80-83f with the 2 extra fans.

I do see your point though, im concidering flipping it and making it an exaust.

I hope you get the heat in check cause that light is gonna be great for a pc grow.

Funny you said that...
So I was not happy with how I had all my fans wired, the ways of old cell phone chargers. I only had 5v output ones and I felt it wasnt enough power (The fans can handle 12v so more then half I was missing).
So I did some research and spent a few hours tinkering with my old pc power supply. Well ill be damned I have 4 fans running with 12v power to them (not to mention the actual power supply fan).
Solved all my issues, my grow box is ran off 2 plugs, 1 for fans 1 for light. The temps cant seem to get above 82f, and it looks super clean now.

Get ready for an epic pc grow.

How much bud do you reckon you could get out of that space? Just curious because I figured it'd be like barely anything at all like almost not worth the trouble?

Ive seen an ounce come from less. This is more for my own personal amusment, I have a larger grow going. I might use this to try out new strains before they go into my room.

I always liked the idea of micro growing and stealth growing but I have a nice size grow room and no reason to hide anything. When my pc died I saw it as an opprtunity to try something new. Maybe move to a larger pc or a cab. Who knows, ive been throwing around ideas about micro growing in a vertical set up. Who knows.

Larger bulb = More heat. It is quite micro. I put 3 cups of water inside my fridge for getting the humidity up and it helped a lot for bringing the temp down also. Good luck in your grow. Smoke a bowl for your success.

It is a lot more heat then most pc grows ive seen but I did see one with a 250w dual spectrium cfl so I figured I could pull a 125w. Fans are key.

Ahh okay, that's crazy pulling an ounce out of a set up that small! I'm a complete newb some I'm only hoping for an ounce out of grow cabinet. Looks pretty sick anyway mate!

Yeah would be boss to have something to test grow different strains, haha I wish I could have a grow room and not have to hide anything.

Yeah, I got inspired by this grow.. he got just over an ounce if my memory serves me correctly.

He had 100w of more light, an auto and dual spectrum im aware. Id rather aim high then low though.

This is all new to me as well, microgrowing that is. Its more about learning then anything plus I have a tonne of fun tinkering and working with my hands. If I get some nice bud to smoke then so be it

And I figure if I can get a decent harvest out of a pc, imagine what I can do with a room lol

Bit of an update, got sick of my garbage thrown together pot. So I bought a 2 foot rectangular pot, cut it down to fit my growbox. Also bought some bamboo sticks to make a scrog with. Heres a picture, let me know what ya think.

Oh also snuck a peek at the seed, shes coming out as we speak.

Here she is and her little tail! Wont be long before this is going full scale.
Temps dont go above 85f, have had it running for a few days now. Scrogs in place, timers ready.

Lets grow micro.

Looking real good there man. I wish I had enough space to fit a light like that and idontlikesociety and penyajo were definitely two people that broke the mold for pc grows on this board. I actually still revisit their grows from time to time because of how epic they were/still are.

I don't see any reason for you to not hit an ounce with your setup.

Thanks for the love mang! I definatly revisit his grow often, sucks how he went out. I havent checked out penyajos yet so im searching that after this post.
