$5 a gram on the bm or $20+hst from a store... Yup the bm is doomed! Lolololol how's that working in the legal us states? Don't think any bm dealers were put out of business.eliminate blackmarket haha, thats funny.
And here lies the problem who will want to sell and grow weed if there is not enough profit in it? The farms will want at least $2 per gram, gov tax say 30-50%, retail will want to make 100% so you're looking at least $5 per gram. oh yah PST+GST so $5.60 so $157 per OZ. BM can live long and prosper at $100 per oz, it'll just change and it'll be smaller growers selling it themselves and still making $1600 per LB.$5 a gram on the bm or $20+hst from a store... the only way I see to prevent this is to literally make it a free for all. The only rules that are needed are no sales to minors and maybe what pesticides that are allowed. Other then that all any other restrictions are doing is keeping the bm alive and well. Collect gst pst like they do on almost everything else and then they win. Otherwise it's just going to be a total failure. I know what I've said will never happen so it's doomed to be a shitshow. Fb, kijiji ect will be the new bm marketplace IMO.And here lies the problem who will want to sell and grow weed if there is not enough profit in it? I donno...I'm sure the moonshiner's said the same thing, but how many folks do you know still making a living from cooking moonshine? It will never completely disappear, but it will gradually become insignificant. When there is a legal source and an option to grow your own, unless the product is priced ridiculously cheap, people aren't going to buy from Johnny selling bags from his basement, imo. Some people aren't going to like it, but the days of making a career from BM growing are numbered. Some will have saved enough they can start a legit business and the others can get paid well for their talents. Years of being a covert grower and having the cops and gov as your enemy is going to be hard to transition from, but it's all part of the cannabis industry growing up and normalizing.eliminate blackmarket haha, thats funny.

I agree with the point youre trying to make. However making moonshine is far more complicated and dangerous than growing cannabis. Growing cannabis can be taught to anyone with little effort and has a low overhead to do soI donno...I'm sure the moonshiner's said the same thing, but how many folks do you know still making a living from cooking moonshine? You fuck up moonshine and you can poison yourself and others. Fuck up growing cannabis, and you kill the plant, MAYBE pull off a real abismal harvest at best
So the number of people growing is more likely to increase as most who have any type of gardening knowlege can manage after a few tries, or even have descent results on their first go
Personally I don't think there will be that many people who will grow their own after legalization. You'll see the first year people doing it a lot but only because of the novelty factor after the novelty wears off you'll see it go back to those who always grew and a few hobbyists like guys who run salt water tanks or living tanks or orchids etc..
That, imo, has to be an option for patients and rec users. It's easy, cheap and eliminates fire or mold hazards. Our climate is an issue, but most should be able to get at least one crop/year...make it big!Outdoors however is a different story all together!
Maybe in rural setting, but backyard grows won't fly in the burbs....IMO. Think clothesline bylaws, or the dude in TO who built his treehouse to tall. MJ is not a nice smell to everyone, and municipalities will always say you can't annoy neighbors.....and don't forget the save the children BS!That, imo, has to be an option for patients and rec users.
