You might wanna wait until you have more plants, particularly if they're clones so you can do a weight comparison to see if it ups yield or affects it.

I'll probably catch hell for this but as I said it's a highly debated topic. Do a Google search on cannabis defoliation and read up and make your own decision. As I said there's a point of diminishing returns as where too many leaves are hiding growth and removing them could increase yield and help prevent mold, but too many removed could stress the plant and reduce yields. I say if it's healthy and there's more than enough foliage trim her up. But that's my 2 cents. I don't have the tons of experience to be any sort of definitive source of advice.

Start slow and do a little bit and see how the below growth responds if it perks up. You can always remove more but you can't put them back. And once the stretch is over she won't grow many more leaves so keep that in mind.

Yeah I remember that from OG. Jamming a nail in the stalk at the base so it could heal a big nub around it effectively supercropping your main stalk. Theoretically seems like it makes sense but considering I've never seen anyone do it since I read that shit like ten years ago I'm assuming that's a no lol
Actually seen my Pops do it. In all honesty I couldn't see anything other than after a week or so the plant he tried it on exploded with new growth. That was about it. Lol

I'd credit the growth to just the week passing. I've only heard the nail thing being mentioned then completely flamed. It's also been been a long time since I've even heard or it being mentioned tbh

I've seen some good grows where they lollipopped the plant. And I have a friend who snips leaves regularly. His suggestion to me on this is if your going to cut them start early so they're used to it. This is of course his opinion. He cleans up leaves from the start. I've decided if they're coming off, the plant will drop em.
Good advice but i would not recommend this with auto's. They have such a short life span that any little shock will effect your end result, maybe you may not notice and it will be a small loss but a few years ago i had a batch of barney's farm sweet tooth auto, i grew 10 trimmed 5 (trying to expose bud sites) and the 5 trimmed girls were heart crushing compared to the 5 that just had lst.. just my opinion but its a opinion from first hand experience :)

His advice sounds on point t with what I've read. I'm not referring to Lolipopping the plant for one cola but removing high fan leaves shading bud sites and fan leaves towards the center of the plant doing the same as well as restricting air flow. Mine are so bushy and tight that the two I am doing it on are responding amazingly. Never seemed to slow them down at all and the result looks like a plant that was lsted or topped multiple times with witha nice flat table like canopy. I did have to tie one down today and really give it a hair cut since it was just so dense and crowing straight up. I had lower branching that was from the first node higher than the four main colas on that plant. Kinda like scrog without the netting I suppose. Those lowers might not have the nodes that the mains do but they're about just as high so at least those low branches that would just have larf on them will have havea nice golf ball up top.
One day try tucking the fans behind the nearest branch and see if you notice a difference in your harvest :)

I learnt the hard way that (for the most part) it doesn't work.. i cant remember his name but back when riu was still a newbor there was a irish guy who used to ha e a cartoon clover as his picture and i cant remember his name to save my life, he was really well known and i got talking to him quite a bit, he always used t5's and grew monsters! He taught me about defoliating and bending the leaves back and i can honestly say i saw a instant difference in my grows

I always tuck first if I can. If I can't I take them off.

I wouldn't see why not. Although the only reason I did it is because I have multiple plants to compare to and they're mad fucking bushy. Up to you if you want to. Start from the top and nip off any giant ones that are covering tops below it. I aim to get most of my big fan leaves all out towards the perimeter of the plant so they're not over anything. I leave those alone.
I have tons of leaves covering bud sites and such. Boutta snip on the Jock I started.......

I agree with you about the research. I researched for like 8 years before starting my first grow in April. The techniques used 8 years ago and now seem to have changed alot. And there's always differing opinions. I did the same read everything and went with what I saw proof of and seemed more logical. Nice looking plants. I used feminized seeds so I have 8 females in my tent. It's very cramped now in the future I think 4 plants will be alot better in a 4x4 tent.

Yep 5 in 3 gallon buckets is using about all the space and I didn't veg them long. I'm thinking four 5 gallon buckets will be the way to go.

Gave them a flush yesterday with distilled water phed at 5.7, took clones (Yeah late I know sue me), and threw in some more oscillating fans and my carbon filter which finally arrived. Going to start full bloom feeds after they dry out a bit in about two days. Day 16 flower (I think..).

Yeah, it was back in the mid 80s when he did all that. Lol. He would also take a horse needle and inject the stalks with milk! Now I honestly don't know why he done this, however I can say that I know for a fact that it did work. After years went by I recalled pops doin that and started doing research on it. Come to find out others was doing the same thing with their pumpkins and having awesome results. I've yet to give it a go myself, however I do believe I am going to give it a try here soon.
