jumbo stealth grow cab 40 plant hydro problem!!!!

hello,

I bought this system about a year and a half ago before I knew jack about growing. After about 4 rounds and spending way too $$$ on this system I have not been able to yield more than an a little over a ounce each round. I thought it was due to a leak in the tub, fixed the leak and still no better results! I just don't know what's going wrong. It holds up to 40 plants although in a limited space. I have been thinking about converting it to a soil system. Any comments, advice, suggestions, etc are greatly appreciated! The system includes:

that doesnt really tell us anything. what kind of light is it? can we get pics? it may say it holds 40, but each plant has so little room it cant grow good. so in reality it might be good for like 15. it depends on the size of their water chamber and all that. lets get some pics =]

yeah thats definitly not enough room for 40 plants. id put like 10 in there maybe. that is if im seeing it right, and its about 3-4 ft wide? the plants r fighting over rootspace. they will wind into eachother and kill eachother off, or each one will produce next to nothing

yes that may be the problem. Would it help converting the system to soil and trying a sea of green in it?

It won't be much of a system with soil, just an overpriced stealth grow. My system came with 15 planters, but I only used 5 after some trial and error. Why not use 20 hydroponically WITH the sea of green method, just build a little cage over the top. Maybe even more than that since you only want mostly the top cola. gl

you need a way better light.

I was planning on replacing the light with a 600 watt hps... would that work with the limited space and get more a much bigger yield?

r u currently using that thing of fluorescents? if so, then yeah a 600 watt hps would probably work better. however, id use that fluoro thing also. maybe put it on the side or something

yes the fluoro is currently the only light in there. I need to take a look but maybe I can mount the fluoro to the back with the 600 hps hanging above??? Then maybe I can get 20 plants to yield at least 18 oz or is that unrealistic?

well, for veg that fluoro should should be alright. after that try the HPS for sure. idk about the yield

also try putting the light a little closer. it looks like its 3 feet away

thanks for the advice. Also the pic is just the prototype from the web site. During the grow I keep the lights as close as possible.
