Just a question for the light experts here......

So... I use digital ballasts. I usually use a splitter that turns my 1k ballast into 2 600 lights. i get great output and great results this way. My question is that "Nanolux" has a "Flip" ballast that you plug 2 lights into and it powers 1 for the 12 hours then turns it off and turns the other one on. Its a 1k ballast. The specs are below, my question is could you possibly use a splitter also on each one in theory have 4 lights working off the ballast, only 2 at any 1 time of course?

No!! The ballast is doing the flip it's not putting out 2,000w it's putting out 1,000w but flipping every 12 hours.

And 1 1,000 running 2 600's? The math just don't add up neither light will be putting out the full spectrum so you are doing yourself a disservice IMO of running 2 600w ballasts and how you got that rigged up can possibly be a fire hazard

No, I understand this. I understand that its only putting out 1k for the one light and then flips to the second light. What I am trying to find out is if you are able to split the 1k just like you are able to do to other ballast and run 2 600 watt lights.

How close is the nearest fire station?

The problem is, 1000 divided by 2 is 500, not 600. So you're underpowering both of your 600s, and not getting the design output of the bulbs. You may not (maybe even probably not) get the proper spectrum of light. How much of an effect that would have on your plants, I don't know - but if you're like me, you'd always be wondering if you could have pulled a few more ounces if you'd run the 600s with 600 watt ballasts.

I'm not sure the ballast would even strike 2 600 watt bulbs in that sort of setup. But if it did, every time I left the house with the lights on I'd be wondering if it would still be there when I got home, or if it was burning down at that very moment. I think you might be trying to tweak something here that is best left untweaked.

Dude....just get more ballasts and cut out the kid games....your gonna catch yer frikin house on fire trying to skimp around the workhorse of everybodys system....your ballasts. They are so cheap now. Ive seen that 1000 watt splitter at the grow shops. I wouldnt use one....hell no. Get a cheap digital foot candle meter. I bet they dont put out the lumens a normal 600 puts out. Do what you want. I get what your saying. The reason no one has an answer is cuz no one is trying some sketchy shit. Flip boxes are cool. 1000 watt splitters....not me.
