Greetings,
I'm living in a medical state. I've actually been growing, both indoors and out for a few decades.
However I am about to take the plunge to hydro soon. I've been stocking up on my needed supplies
for this next dwc grow. I'm hoping tomorrow to have my RO filter installed.
I'm looking forward to getting to know a few of you and to double check my work,
prior to messing up.....rather than afterwards. lol

Hi dude. I'm pretty new here too.

Hydro scares me. Too easy to fuck up - or so I've always heard. I just stick with my Happy Frog, Pearlite, and the usual veg and bloom nutes. But I admire your pioneering spirit. I'd probably spend a fortune and fuck it all up. lol

Greetings from one Old Timer to another. I've been growing in dirt also. I'm wanting to take the plunge as well. ( good pun) Good luck. I do believe you will find what your looking for. I'm not quite ready yet. I'm still studying. Right now I'm reading, Why Does it Burn When I P.H ? Anyway enjoy.

hey oregon, thanks for the welcome. It took me years to take the plunge, but as you look at it, going hydro only makes sense, and its a lot less work. I'm too old to be carrying around all those bags of soil.
There is no heavy lifting, no mixing the soil and various additives, no cleaning up.
I bought a 5 dollar pump off amazon that hooks up to a drill for easy water change.
Also using ph perfect and filtered water, you dont have to ph

I'm going to start experimenting for all of the reasons you mentioned. Next year we are using a tractor for the outdoor. The o'l lady and I just can't move the dirt anymore and good help is nearly impossible to find. I just got these toys so I'm going to play a little bit.

Look I'm no expert in dwc, but I have a good working knowledge, (enough to get in trouble) and I think one big mistake people make is using a bucket or a tote that is too small.
Like using a 5 gal bucket isnt big enough.

I'm starting with two 18 gallon totes, each tote holding two plants in each.
an 18 gal tote with 2 plants will hold around 15 gallons, at the end of the day, each plant could
drink a gallon a day....thats 2 gallons a day gone. Any smaller and I would be topping off daily.
I don't want that.

Yea, a little. However I'm just doing a couple of really small bonzi style. mainly for fun. I do have some experience with H2o but I'm following an experienced Hydro grower on here.. Mainly, I'm in the 600w Club thread. That is where I'm posting my soil grow/grows. This is my current thing. I have been running the same boring strains for a while and I needed new genetics. I did a seed order. They showed up and this is what I'm doing.

Sweet, I like DP. I just bought some fem mazar seeds from them.
I think next grow may be bubble gum. I'll have to check n on that 600 club.
except I dont have a 600 watter anymore. lol
I havent looked around here much.....yet
Don't get talked into doing anything, listen to whoever is yr mentor here.
Im told vegging is much faster too in dwc, another benefit.

I just grow for the wife and myself, while we do smoke, she does more than me...
I do a lot of edibles as my lungs are failing.
I just want to get 8 oz of high grade indoor bud per plant.
the resulting 2lbs from 4 ladies would last us the 3 months til next harvest.

This is the box I'm working on right now. 1200w ought to do it. The DPs and the Cherry Bomb is the ones I'm most excited about. The others are my own strain that we are running a couple of times for stability. For all I know they are all males. But it's not likely.
