hey there riu

as alot of you on chat know, i have a few grows going in different rooms and places in my property,

today i was fitting a lightbulb " somewere in my house" and i happened to knock the cieling and it sounded rather hollow,

now obviously ive checked my house for all rooms and spaces to use as growrooms,

but i never knew of a loftspace that i had access to

i have no loft doors or hatches in any of the top floor rooms,

so........ what i did was...

crawl up the chimney from inside the house.

till i was Round about mid roof height, and bust a hole in the chimney side wall and

what did i see whan i shone my head torch through the hole ?

this is what i found :P

theres around 15 x 12 of useable space

and its 6ft 6 high at the apex

it has 4 air intakes/outtake vents already installed in the roof,

so venitlation wont be a problem

it has no windows or light leaks

just needs loft boards for flooring,
and 2x4 and plyboard to make a flower room and veg room

this will definatly be my future grow room

and with the only access being climbing up the chimney..

i see a greatly hidden, secretive and perfect oppertunity,

let me know what you think !

Hah! Sweet find man, that is simply awesome. I've lived in a few 100+/yr old houses that had similar hidden spaces/rooms. I wonder where the original access point was.

I had a great aunt that had a huge house in Alabama that's insanely old. When her kids inherited it, they started remodeling the basement and found an 200' long tunnel that reaches to the the barn, mid-way through they found fair sized underground room that had a table, chairs some civil-war era maps and papers along with a few weapons, canteens, lanterns and other stuff. The house had a history of being used as a clinic during the civil war.

They aren't the growing type (as far as I know) but I'd setup a hell of a grow room in there given the chance. :)

I'd cover that brick wall with some insulation and then some plywood at least. It's gonna suck moisture out of the room. If it was my space, I would put some more supports like that one coming off at about a 40 degree angle, and wall off that section on both sides so you could have a flowering and veg room. Or, I would go from those supports back to that brick wall so it appeard that you were looking at the inside of the exterior wall when you looked up there.

it aint that hard to get to. the chimney is 3ft x 2ft
in diamiter <(Typo) ?

lol

im thinking of putting a trap door just up inside the chimney breast, so that it looks like the chimney is unused,

even tho the chimney is actually unused

its more decorative as we have radiators for heating

I agree very stealthy from what I have seen.Cool find.

thanks buddy

i think that might be an understatement! haha talk about secrecy. good luck gettin anything up your chimney. keep us posted on this. where theres will there a way my friend! bongsmilie
like i said above, im gna install a trap door inside the chimney breast

so itl stay stealthy
and im going to build a few nft systems up there using pvc gutter pipe and 2x2 wood for a frame

aslong as i cut it to size before i take it up shudnt be a problem,

just gettin the fans , ballast, lights, ozone generator, carbon filters, and other stuff might be a chore on its own

also im thinking of secretly instaling a water tap up there, so i dont gotta carry up bottle apon bottle of water up there,

^^^^^ idea ? :P ????????????????

yeah, my house is a victorian house,

it has a massive cellar under the house but its only 4 ft high floor to cieling so way to low

and the floor is 6 inch concrete slab, so digging it out is out of the question

i was gonna do lowryder autos down there but tbh, id rather have a nice height and tall plants

well, i have a unused mantel (chimney thingy) in my bedroom and one below my room in the lounge,

both are unused anyway, they are just decorative,

i saw it branch into the cieling and thought maybe if it goes up there ill be able to punch through ?

so i got a club hammer and a chisel, and my telescopic ladder and my headtorch and got up there an started punching through,

i nearly wet my pants with exitement!!

you could pretty much move your entire grow to the addict and be 100 percent covert. Do you have a link to any past grows you have done.

I'd also look into a few various automation tools. Make it easier to keep an eye on your plants and water/move the lights remotely so you don't have to go up there as often.

This can be done with various automated systems and wireless cameras. If you get an older (say, P4 1.6ghz) computer, you can connect a few usb cams and use some windows software to setup a surveillance system on the plants and there are a few windows-controlled automated watering/gear moving systems available out there.

Going the automated route will help reduce the amount of time you go up there and add more stealth. 'course this all depends on how much money you got to spend. But you can do the computer and webcam stuff for about 300 or so. Refurb computer from HCDI Trading or geeks.com and webcams from geeks.com or newegg.

growtronix. Neat system can create a 100 percent computer run system where you can sit and regulate everything from nutrients, co2, lights, fans, etc. Also has fire detectors that shut the system down if smoke is detected and notifies you via text message etc.
