I was just informed via email the company I work for has a brand new drug & alchol policy which requires that all medical cannabis patients come forward in writing asking the "BOSS" if he or she may have permission. Didn't know my employer had that kind of juice. I plan to run the legality of the memo by my doctors before I feel inclined to respond. Anyone here going though similar?

That's terrible. I know for myself working in the oil field, I would probably be put on modified duties if I told h&r. Probably wouldn't be driving or operating machinery

I'd be talking to a lawyer instead of your doctor. You don't have to disclose other medications you may be on - for privacy reasons - and cannabis is no different. If you are impaired at work, they have a case, but it is otherwise none of their business. You said it was a "drug and alcohol" policy - does everyone who consumes an alcoholic beverage or 12 after work have to ask for permission? As for the rec users - they are free to smoke their brains out on their own time, fuck all any employer can do. Even 'safety-sensitive' jobs will not be an excuse for an employer to harass or fire someone. Unless they can prove the employee was impaired AT WORK, it's none of their concern.

haahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahah whos the employer? I want a job just to fuck them around. You do have to tell your employer about your cannabis use ONLY so they can accommodate you, you can’t get caught then tell them. Some what trickery but a news outlet had a interview with a employee relations firm and that’s what they said.

Why would everyone need to be accommodated? If your performing your duties as required, why should anything change?....because someone "thinks" what?

Put it this way. If they fire you because of an illness that would be a big violation

sadly you have to be sick to go that rout,.paying for a license wont cut it
you have to be able to back up your illness with proof!

which is what scared most people into the new system..having to get another script made or paid for.....
Rec have the same arguments they just havent had their day in court yet8):blsmoke::idea:

I took a 4$/hr pay cut so I could say fuck you to being on call being diligent 24hr a day & working with really dangerous shit. Now I walk 7 min to work and I'm essentially responsible for dumping mop water:dunce: Its still unclear if I'll have to wear an armband of some kind

I told my employer.(customer)..the day my MMAR came thru the mail..
they had absolutely zero problem with me medicating...since I work from home...and for a reason....I perform...
I am also... chosen... first... by the owners to do on site trouble shooting ....for a custom made /engineered and stamped
product... of a highly technical nature....
My time is generally sold to my customer (a chief executive officer, the highest-ranking person in the company ultimately responsible for making managerial decisions.) who in turn sub lets my time out to his customers , that require custom design work.

Imagine them trusting someone who medicates with cannabis....go figure....
