just how well do commercial carbon filters (scrubbers) work?

I'm thinking of upgrading my grow to 2000 watt tent, but live in an apartment so smell is an issue.

If I ran the proper amount of cfm through a good quality carbon scrubber, in percentage, how much would you say the smell would be reduced?

I've never been in a grow room with one, so I really have no idea. 80% smell gone? 100%?

with a properly sized and ventilated carbon filter you only smell the plants if you're within a couple of inches. the rest of the smell is completely gone.

I use can 50 and 100's they work very will. Filters work if you size them right. Better to much than to little and if bigger it will also last longer. As to how long they last depends on room size and filter size. I have never gotten less than 1 1/2 t 2 years out of my filter.

Buy a good one, don't be cheep, there is a difference between the 100$ vs 250$ filter for a reason.

They do work really really well when set up right. I cannot even smell my plants unless I put my nose right up to them

My friend recently put some stinkers in a 2000w setup. The carbon did a great job I couldn't smell a thing outside of the room.

Check my grow journal. I have one can carbon filter for four 1000w lights. You can smell it a little, and the room is 100% unsealed so I'm not even trying to mask it much. I keep a bottle of Ona handy for when friends come over, just a couple squirts in the a/c filter does a champ job every time. When I upgrade in a few weeks to six lights, then the Ozone filter will probably be put on a timer as well, but only for 10-15 minutes per hour at best.

One thing to consider, beyond smell CONTROL is the lack of creating it to begin with. Research low smelling strains. THere are some strains that no matter how good your filtration is you can smell the stink a mile away it seems. Smell doesnt equal potency, the strains THC content determines that, so by doing some homework you'l lfind a load of strains that meet both of these criteria. That and a filter and your good to go!

sorry to jack the thread but what fan are you using with your CAN50 filter, Woodsman?
I am thinking my AA 6" 400CFM would be a good match, what do you think?

All the filters have the CFM requirements on them. Try googling the model # your interested in and it'll tell you on the specs.
