Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes is an easy one to start with.

Search for some bass tabs to songs. What kind of bass is it?

Black Sabbath-N.I.B.

When I first read the title of the thread I thought you inhereted a bass(like a fish)LOL. I thought what a wierd thing to inheret. A bass guitar makes a little more sense now. Good luck in learning to play. Stick with it.

You've got to learn Hotel California by the Eagles. The bass line is that is pretty repetitive and not to difficult but it grooves like crazy.

yeah a bunch of my friends are in bands and it can be pretty easy. but the fact that you can get some funky beats is what i like best about the bass. but there are some talented bassist out there. for example the bassists from psyopus, necrophagist, btbam... pretty much all newer tech metal/progressive metal bass is getting pretty advanced. and i got small ass hands too. so it wont be as easy for me lol

Another song with some good bass work is Muse, Hysteria. Pretty much non-stop throughout the song.

Main thing is, have fun. Funk out on the thing and you will really learn things. It is pretty cool to just mess around and suddenly catch onto something.

Oh yeah on the Roundabout suggestion! What a great group, Yes.
