The first week or so is pretty rough while the tissue heals into the mesh, but I should be able to get back to most of my normal moving around by then. Im pretty much just between the bed and the bathroom right now, it takes most of what I have just to get up to do that. Wife waiting on my every other need for a few days until I can start to get around a bit better. If it wasnt down a full flight of steps id be able to at least look at it lol. They just started budding over the weekend so im anxious to watch them grow as always.
Got everything changed out and topped off on sunday to make sure it was all balanced and going well. Have the wife giving me am and pm meter readings and its stayed stable so far. I totally forgot I have a camera could have put in there
Hey fragile...we all have imaginations. I love the way little buds look at that age...I can picture it in my mind.

And your wife sounds committed as a caregiver...not everyone does it well. I remember my young wife had to have heel spurs removed...because of nursing school shoes. Both at the same time so I had to carry her everywhere...and showers...that was complicated!

But that's what people in love do for each other.

I just love the whole process, I stand down in my basement and just soak it all in all the time. Its become my little escape ,its so peaceful down there with all the water sounds. I dont have to mess with them much at all but I go down usually a few times a day just to look at them. I get that "man I did that" feeling and its a huge sense of pride.
She really is awesome at it, im a disabled vet to start with so her waiting on me isnt too out of the norm. im lucky to have her for sure. It was hard uprooting everything and coming to CO but shes been here every step of the way.

She sounds like a gem! Thanks for your service, fragile! My dad's a vet, too. You guys are heroes.

Well most of us feel that way about their garden...and your wife...once you recover...you take good care of her!

@Pyreonfire Hey sorry for our little hijack. Fragile was fragile.
Not sure what the other guys said about rockwool. I tend to not follow those discussions because so many comments are from people who have never used rockwool successfully. T'm talking Grodan brand here. The newest stuff has a changed formulas with less or zero gypsum in it. End result is no initial soaks...just one soak at ph 5.5 and the smaller ones you can just give a wrist flick...the larger ones I just use gravity. I just vegged some plants in 4" cubes...they did great and I was going to put them in hydro...but ended up buried in coco. No issues with that.

I admit I haven't tried the huge slabs. I have some big Mommas but just haven't used them yet. I water rockwool somewhat similar to coco...maybe a little lighter in intensity and volume. I use it all the time.

edit...just wanted to make my feeding style clear...always top fed by hand. To runoff once a week is all I do.

I did scouts when I was young too. Always had a blast building my cars.
Thank you! Its kinda been a thing of the males on my dads side to go army. He did 30 years, his dad was in and my little brother is now in.
sorry I got your topic so off point again lol.
This is our first year. Should be interesting... not sure if they'll be quick but I tried to make them fun looking for them anyhow.

And that's awesome. Definitely something to be proud of!
And no worries.. I don't mind a bit.

Yep I had an inguinal on the right side. Got mesh done with the robot and im still dying lol.
Tried playing some games, but chatting on here keeps my mind off it a little better. Its kinda killing me that I cant get down the stairs to admire my own ladies this week so I gotta live vicariously through other growers.
Plus helping makes me feel good too., was really happy we got @Pyreonfire other plant going well again.
Feel better soon! Also stenting the incision site with a pillow or even your hand when you are moving can help with the pain.

Yep. Im fairly fragile. It was originally an auto generated name on another site but I actually found it pretty fitting. I got all kinds of issues these days.
I do my best to spoil her. She doesnt want for much most of the time lol.

Sometimes you get the people that are way to into it and come with precision engineered stuff that was obviously made by the parents. Win or lose its a fun time. You can do some neat things with weight placement on them. If you dont have any already, a little dry graphite lube on the wheels helps a lot.

I'm sure we're all much more fragile than we acknowledge. My nickname has always been "sensitive" so I can relate. It's not too far fetched... another reason why I'm on this forum and haven't slept without meds in ages. Hopefully a successful grow will change that.

And yes, we watched a few YouTube videos and holy smokes, it gets pretty intense. We're aiming for having fun this first go around and either way, we've already had fun with designing it!

And yes, she sounds wonderful. Glad she's taking care of you. Enjoy those rice krispie treats for me!

Hey Pyrreon...I started a thread recently about a specific sleep problem...sleep apnea. Why don't you pop over and read the first post. I listed all symptoms of sleep apnea. Just saying your sleep problems may be treatable.
Cheers,
JD

Hi JD! Thanks for the link. Funny you should mention it, my dentist wants me to have a sleep study because I clench my jaw so hard at night that I'm damaging my teeth! Apparently that's a symptom? My regular doctor doesn't think it's worth the time for me because I don't have any other symptoms and don't really fit the description, no snoring, slender build, etc.. but I'll try the at home test still.

My problems stem mostly from trauma... I'm haunted by it after many years. And now, I care for my dad who has stage 4 cancer and my mom who had a stroke, and that's very hard. I'm really close to them, so I worry a lot! Wish they had a machine for overactive brains I could pop on every night! Haha!

Thanks for the link! It's a good reminder to do the sleep study to see anyhow!

The old description of people with sleep apnea is proving to be false. Slender people can have it too. It seems to be more about the actual structure of the jaw and throat.

And thanks for reminding me...tooth issues are related to sa...I'll add that to the list.

I had a home study and it worked pretty well. Most people feel most comfortable sleeping in their own bed.

Well, while this seedling is perking up a bit and her root is really taking off into the water, there's still some kind of deficiency or lockout in the newer growth. Any guesses?
Hey...
No immediate guesses. Just because one plant has it on a tip...certainly can't hint at nute burn...plus she'd be more green.

Looks more like some sort of rotting disease...something fungal possibly...especially with high humidities. How are your RHs?

80/55% which is right where I keep all my seedlings and vegging plants. There was one night with a drastic drop to 20%

Roots still look white and crisp? Not getting brown or slimy looking or starting to smell like a fish tank?

Hmm, the humidity is usually around 50%. It did drop over night to 20% last week when the humidifier spazzed out on me. But it's back and running.

Yes, 80 degrees and 50-55% average RH. And yes, the one night that it dropped!

Roots look great.. just starting to get hairs off of the main tap. Nice and white (well, stained a bit from nutes) but no brown/slime. I use a wee bit of southern ag hydro guard as a preventative.
