Just ordered me an Ed Rosenthal grow book

I probably should have done this a long time ago but after my recent significant investment in my garden I thought I owed it to myself to dispel some of the grow rumors that go around the forums these days and actually order me a book with some real information from a real authority so I went ahead and ordered

After my current grow and after reading this book, I hope to be able to contribute some beneficial advice to this forum that I've taken so much from.

Anyhow, I was just wondering if any of you have read ed's books and if they were descent? Amazon reviews were through the roof so I'm anticipating a very good read.

I would say the books can only tell you so much and just getting so many runs under your belt is the real knowledge builder. I still skim my books once in a while just for the hell of it though.

You know you could of gotten the same thing in .pdf form for free online right? E-Book.

Nah, I already checked. I could have gotten the e-book for $10 but I don't like reading books on my computer so an extra $10 for a hardback is a-ok with me.

Books are good, read as many of them as possible. I have about 15 years of Hightimes adn Cannabis Cultures stashed as well as many books. And I have read many more at the store. All growers have similarities and differences and I think the best way to make good gardening decisions is to have as much different info as you can!

I have the e-book, but most reference books converted to digital suck. You would think e-books would use hyperlinks and stuff - or is that too obvious? I read novels on my e-paper Kindle, but that's vastly different than a reference book.

I'm not sure I like Ed's writing style though, and it seems a little repetitive. I'm ordering Jorge Cervantes' book in paperback - that also got rave reviews on Amazon. I wouldn't recommend an e-book, but at least I got something. I wonder about the newbies that post here detailing all they bought - hundreds of dollars even - and ask basic questions. "What do I do?" Maybe spend only $20 more - or less for used - on a book.

So, yeah, I think it is a good book - it seems comprehensive and accessible, with lots of great color reference photos. Perhaps others are better written, perhaps not. I guess I'll find out.

First grow book I read was a hand-me-down Ed book from '84.

PDF versions are always good to have in the stash.
I just sold my Grow bible to a young jedi padawan. For the fact Im going to get the updated version paper back.. For now and since 2000 I use my HT full 2yr collection 2000-2001



HT books in general and especially over the course of a year carry a lot of information IMO +++++ More colored pictures and bud porn

Own it and am currenlty reading. Great book, good pictures.

It's a good base. I have found that one needs a solid foundation and experience to succeed. You have made a good selection...he has quality DVD's too : )

I have 2 of ed's books(closet cultivator and the handbook) and one of Jorge's(the bible) and I just bought TLO by the Rev. along with a collection similar to taco's of magazines and a few of those cheap jank high times books one is called hydro for pennies and I think trash to stash is the other. ALL good reads. The magazines are great to go back to for stuff like chef ra recipes and interviews with growers about tricks and tips. Jorge has a badass DVD that you can watch right on youtube with minimal searching. dutch masters DVD too. There just isn't enough books/dvds/magazines out there to fill my need to keep learning and reading. Ed's book is a great base knowledge book. Oh shit, I forgot DJ shorts cultivating exceptional cannabis. the library is always growing.

the cannabis grow bible by greg green was the easiest for me to understand and most informative.
