Just starting out? How many plants did you ruin? What strain do you recommend?

Working on keeping my plants alive for now...I have already killed/ ruined/burned/and just messed up 22 expensive seeds...from Attitude...

I have a new hempy idea going and I'm thinking of doing 2 liter bottles, What would be a good starter plant, that I could start for a Clone Mother?

Start with soil and learn to keep them alive. No cloning, topping or any other "growing techniques" until you've mastered the basics-keeping her alive. My first harvest was 5 ladies that put out 2 oz per, dry.

I have a green thumb so I was comfortable diving right in. 0 plants killed and I have 4 plants in bud, 1 mother, 3 teens and 12 clones.

A lot of strains state if they are good for beginners or not. Don't over water and don't over feed and you will probably be fine. I would try and start with a clone if possible. After they have a decent root system going they are a lot harder to kill. Just remember its a weed and it would grow in the dark in your basement. The less you do the better off it will be for the most part.

I hope you have better luck with the next grow. Try come cool running florescent lighting for small plants to reduce heat stress.

Ive messed up a lot of germination, that can be more tricky than one would think. My main problem was probably that a warmer area for them to sprout would have been good. Even with some years experience I just recently killed off a nicely germinated seed by getting the wrong soil. It retained too much water and drowned the seed after I planted it.

keep it simple, start by learning the basics, do a lot of research and yes I must agree with joe blow, start in soil, if you can mess em up that easy I wouldn't begin to play with hydro or hempy buckets or even coco, get a good basic soil for weed and let it do its thing, done it outside for 50K years on its own ..

K.I.S.S... Keep It Simple, Stupid

Learn to keep them alive before you do anything crazy, no topping, no LST, nothing... Let her grow while you watch and learn.

I started out with bag-seed... and I recommend everyone do the same until you got your basics down

Have had 100% germination and sprout/growth success....I just keep it simple n basic...best way to go when starting out...from first seed I popped until the most recent they've all done well...a little luck n common sense n a blessing from the weeds gods.....I don't know exectly what u could b doing wrong to mess up 22 seeds....just throw em in some wet soil n leave em alone if ur having that much trouble....they want to grow I promise they do

My first harvest was a single plant. Started two beans in ffof with extra perlite added. Vegged both for 30 days. After 12-12 one of the two was male, so I promptly threw it out. That was actually a good thing since I could focus all my lights on the remaining girl (nirvana bubblicious). I suggest a few things. Grow one plant. Start in soil. If youre not good at mixing soil recipes just buy ffof for $20 shipped on ebay. Add extra perlite (25-30) percent for better drainage. Learn to not over water. Make sure your plant is totally dried out and resist the urge. I wait at least 3 days before each watering if not 4. Dont feed nutes at all for 30 days at least. When you do start at 1/4 strength, then water the next two waterings with plain water only, then repeat with nutrient water. Follow this regimem and gradually increase nutrients over time. I also suggest your LST train your plant while it is small, maybe two weeks old. Finally as a newbie do not underestimate SMELL. I have found a single plant to be quite GREEN smelling after a month! Even more pungent at 2 months. By the time you start flowering.... its really strong!!!! Air freshners wont cut it, or mask it, dont even try. Be prepared with a carbon filter. I just bought one for $140 with 4" fan but you can make them if you are handy.

get a 3 gal plant contaner with holes in bottom with under nith tray , good garden potting mix not soil but mix. germante seed for first time something like nothern light strain put gemanated seed in potting mix ,water thoughly put light close to contaner not to hot and not to cold room temp 76 degrees is ideal new sprouts like warm soil depending were you are starting mite want a heatiing pad under container and then watch it grow no nutes no water till dry about 3 inchs down then water again throughly, and then leave it along, to many people want to use coco and put nutes or use a hot soil that every buddy on here talk about have a shit load of problems with a simple plant that will grow out side on its own with no help PEOPLE NEED TO STOP DROWNING AND BURNING UP THER GIRLS.

I've had 100% germination, but 1/3 of my seedlings have historically died due to damping off disease, so I'm very conscious of keeping the tops of my rockwool cubes dry while watering from the bottom. I jumped straight into hydro, but the constant measuring and testing work very well for me, and most veterans here would not recommend it for a new grower.

I did nute burn my first set of plants a bit, then they had a cal/mag deficiency, and then I light burned them! But they ended up both being male, so I cut them down and started again. I obviously learned from that experience because my two subsequent females grew to maturity without any problems at all.

A Newbie thread that has great ideas from all....
Awesome....
I agree with the KISS grow method for first timers...
Ask yourself, are you a hands "On" or do you want to plant some seeds and forgetaboutit....
Hands On:
Hands on, buy a clone, and plant 2 or 3 [bagseed] seeds, in 2/3 dixi cups with holes in them...
Keep records, meaning plant dates, when seed planted, when sprouted, when 4" tall...when your new seedlings, show roots [there will be some new growth on top, roots, first and then new growth generally follows...
Veg [18/6] your seeds for a min of 3 weeks in cups, I leave upside down clear plastic cup on top [see through] as my humidity dome [dome on for first week] Lights CFL or equal as close as you can get to plants...
Clone water and check for new growtrh... once new growth happens, you can give it deluted nutes...
Check your plants three times a day... Mist soil, never water, [if you never water only mist soil, it will be harder for noob to drowned them-been there]
Start water/feed when clone/seedlings show growth...
...... If you want to Forgitaboutit and just plant and almost never show love, or learn from your plant, then...
Just get a clone, some lights and come on here with a
"OMG, what did I do" thread....
Ha... we all start small, and work up....
Good Luck...

Well trying wrong soil, light, using used pots that had spiders, trying to hurry all the time. Just normal learning curve...

If I were you I wouldn't germinate another bought seed until I could get some bag seeds plants living good. Guess I was lucky, you couldn't buy seeds back when I started growing, bag seed was all there was but you hated killing them too because the only bag seed that got kept was the best shit.

I have 50 bagseed starts now, so I think I'm safely past the kill em all phase....And besides I learned at least 22 things....I was just wondering how many would admit they have lost a bunch.

Trial and error is the best way to learn. Everyone makes mistakes, it's all about learning from each experience and not repeating them. I've killed a few plants in my day, it took me 3 or 4 harvests before I actually had something worth smoking. After 3 years and lots of practice/research I can finally say I have a product worth the time and effort it takes to grow.
