Just starting out? How many plants did you ruin? What strain do you recommend?

The most common mistakes newbs make are growing in inadequate soil, not having enough light or ventilation, and under/over watering. If you can correct these 3 issues your plants will stay healthy and thrive every time.

The strain you are growing also makes a big difference. Most indoor growers prefer indica dominant plants because they stay shorter, are easier to trim, finish in less time and have denser flowers. Outdoors you don't have to worry about vertical space so sativas are the best approach, they take longer to finish but are resistant to mould and insects, are more forgiving of climate change, and are more potent.

Yeah autos are mostly ruderalis hemp, they grow a lot shorter with just 1 main stalk and not much side branching. The yield and quality is not worth the time it takes to grow IMO, still 10-12 weeks. If you want short and bushy plants the best approach is LST training, topping and super-cropping.

Thanks for that advice, I topped my 2 1 gallon hempy experiments...just bagseed, but the next in age and size, they survived 5 days with no care, in totes and cfl's, I'm thinking of using a tote for them both....
