Today I have a Dehumidifier right next to the drying buds to stop the mould process and speed up the drying process. My idea now is to dry for another day or two and then put straight into curing jars. Does the jar have to be REALLY air tight? I have some coffee jars of good size which seem to have a decent seal on them but its only a 'click' on lid, should I also tape around the seal? I will burp it once a day, and will cure in this jar for 2 weeks exactly, then hopefully I'll have some decent smoke.
I think what didn't help in this case was the fact the budz are sooo big and really clumped together, no moisture can escape from the insides and thats where the mould set it, usually buds are not quite so fat and moisture can easily escape, but not in this case... dam big buds!
I think I am now on top of the mould, I chopped off the last of the mould affected buds from the plant, they recovered pretty nicely on the plant as I left it outside all night and all day to air out.
This website gave me a lot of knowledge about GROWING this plant, but even after reading ALOT of curing and drying techniques it wasn't enough to prepare me for the mould problem. I would now stress the importance of circulating air when drying, and also humidity levels in the room you are drying in.
