what lights of you have man?
if you have an "extra" 600 watts available I HIGHLY recommend using the 10k 600 watt metal halide bulb, not only does it make some seriously large trichomes, but I have had ZERO powder mold since I started using it, and i'm in a redwood rainforest, and California has gotten a WET winter and fall, not even a speck of it
I guess it could be coincidence but every harvest I have to battle the PM, and since I started the 10k I am mold-free.
didn't change anything else at all
run the 10k in an open hood, (the exhaust side)and make sure you get some good sunglasses or oxy-acetylene cutting glasses.
the same sort of concept they use in hospitals and reef tanks
worth a try, the bulb is only like 80 bucks or so
plus like I said the trichs are noticeably larger with the MH
not for use as a sole source of light though, ya gotta match it a hps
ideally 2/1
but I run a 1/1 and rotate the plants, every ten days
funny how obvious the differences are when using the different bulbs though
yeah i'm running 2 lamps right now and firing up the third in a couple months when i get back into full swing. the PM just fucked me. I wasn't doing perpetual grows cause i didnt know if the mildew was gonna be gone or not, it just kept coming back! I'm mold free now though. got the environment clean. and we're like 30% humidity all the time cause it's winter. I have heard about the 10ks giving more/bigger trichs though. maybe i'll throw one in my 3rd hood and give it a go. maybe use it to finish out the crop for the last week or two and run the others under HPS until they become mature enough??? i could also rotate the bulb around the room every couple weeks though.

What IPM regimine were you using prior to yourPM issue?

EVERYTHING. i tried potassium bicarbonate + neem oil. Mildew Killer. Green Cure. Lemon juice. H2O2. you name it.

the problem is once you have spores in your environment, and you have plants in flower in that environment, you can't spray them past a certain point because you dont want to spray your flowers with anything ya know? So when the IPMs would wear off/break down the mildew would come back by either A) still being systemic in the plant surviving, and then being able to produce fruiting bodies. or B) there were spores in the environment and they would infect the plants when the treatments wore off late in flower and then start to take over! it was bad. Then i learned about the sulfur burner and that solved all my problems. plus sulfur in high doses is toxic to the fungus and when the plant absorbed that sulfur, i think the fungus was unable to survive.

yea man, just buy a bulb and swap it into one of your ballasts, and make sure it's the last one in your ventilation setup, you want it unshielded, and preferably on an exhaust side so you are having the light shine through the incoming air
it's just a theory, but I changed NOTHING, and it's been like 100% for the last like, well.. since like October
and it gets nicely warm too, but my growroom is powder mold free.
every grow I've had out there has had issues with pm before, I changed the light, and haven't had any since
sort of an accidental discovery, I was just running the 10k on my hashplants to see if it did anything for the glands

check this out my man, just did some interesting research that may back my theory

here is a graph on where the UV C comes into play regarding sterilization

uv graph.jpg
notice the area is around 200-300 nm

Now check this graph out
10k halide spect.jpg

THAT is a LOT of UV my brothers and sisters..
and it's in the right spectrum too...
Now it falls off a lil, and doesn't show the UV-C (cuz its useless for plants)
but this graph shows a bit more
but again, tails off befre it gets to the UV-C, but it's safe to assume that it's still got a good amount

yeah i was just checking out the hortilux hps graph and it only goes to like 400... so yeah i would have to agree that you are correct! looks like i'll be getting a 10k for my veg and my bloom :)

i know you said you rotate them around... but is there an optimal time you think the 10k is effective in flower? @greasemonkeymann
