its great stuff i know quite a few mules myself. its spelled khat (pronounced cot). 40$ for a budle of the fresh, guava(the dry shit that has had the active ingredient oxidized) sucks and is about half the price of the fresh. but if you dont get fresh its not worth the money.
anyways if you can get the fresh and its high in cathinone, its better than coke.

I got it once of a friend of a friend, its pretty popular round here with african immigrants. My friend who got it for me thought I was nuts for chewing it but I had wanted to try khat for years, since my psychonaut years. It was nice and fresh, I ended up chewing it over the course of a few days with some pleasant effects. It made me quite talkative and was much more motivational than I had expected it to be. Effect-wise it was kind of in the middle of a small speed bomb and caffiene overdose...

Its usually spelled "Qat" or "Khat".

Its been available in the USA for a long time. . .*IF* you happen to be located in a geographic area where there are a lot of North Africans, in particular Somalis. If you happen to be in such a place, and you know the right people, you might get some.

You can see here for some background on this:

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2012/04/17/13_defendants_in_khat_smuggling_case_go_to_trial/

Never tried it myself, but the active ingredient, cathionine, is chemically related to amphetamines, and gives a similar (though milder) effect.

As mentioned, the active ingredient decays rapidly, so you need fresh leaf for it to work properly.

heard of it but never any evaluations. Can we grow it? seeds? legality?
It'd be a nice addition to my.. ahem.... secret garden.

^You must live in the 612, lol!
Not even on the right continent! Thankfully I live in the UK, where khat has never been banned. In the US and Canada it is a controlled substance. On a side note I did see a strange fellow the other day, he was cutting weeds down at 5:30 in the morning out of a derelict garden. Very dodgy character. This khat thread stuck in my head so I went back to see what he was cutting down - it looked very much like khat!

Well, you know what often looks derelict is more than likely just camo'd to look derelict. That's the RIU way.

i takes 3 years before it begins to have an alkoloid nature where it will get you high, so you would need a clone of an older plant to really grow it. it can get really tall too.

That's how it always goes with these type of plants. Always either the waiting game. Or a difficult procurement.

If only people knew......about the 612. Freakin' khat everywhere!
It's pretty obvious considering how badly the Somalis drive around here... It's always the late model minivan with dings, dents, scratches, and a missing bumper and/or fender. You really need to watch out for those!

yep its everywhere around there... and Chicago Indianapolis, and new york. really if you want to grow some your best bet is to get tpo know some africans that do the shipping(this is how i got a clone but i didnt survive, rooted, but it didnt do well in MJ soil too much nutes. the africans that do the shipping sometimes will get a cut within 24 hours of the chop, so its still very possible to root a cutting. this is your best chance of growing the plant with its time already put in.

dont get me started on how they drive.... they still think its a dirt road out there!lol. i bough a minivan from a Somali for a hell of a price because he did a hit and run.

Yeah, what makes it even funnier is that Somalis are driving about 99% of all taxis there too. LOL!
