Kandy Kush & Blueberry Soil Grow

Day 29 of flowering. Things look good. Still feeding the Roots Organics nutes - haven't really deviated from the provided feeding schedule and so far no real issues. Did take the advice of adding Nitrogen and picked up som Aurora Grow N - put about 5ml in my 2.5 gal nute solution when I fed the girls today.

And here are the mothers that are vegging. Tangerine Dream on left, Northern Light Blue in the middle and C99 on right. Probably going to take clones from the C99 for next round in a 2 weeks or so. All three have pre flowered and are confirmed females. Leaves are huge. I topped all three of them about a week ago and they are branching out nicely.

Wondering if someone can help me identify what is going on here. So, there are definitely two different strains in here - though I don't know which one is Blueberry and which one is Kandy Kush. One group of plants is doing great. Very dark green and buds are growing and frosting up nice. The other group is experiencing some problems. Based on my reading and researching, I think it looks like a K deficiency. But, I thought I would throw it out there to people much more experienced than I.

Here is what they look like. Not all over the plant, just on some leaves, mostly older, larger leaves:

Here is what the other group of plants looks like for comparison:

IMG_2942.jpgIMG_2950.jpg

I have been feeding them both the Roots Organics at the same strengths. The only change I have made has been to add tiny bit of nitrogen since the group with the leaf issues were quite a bit lighter green than these plants.

Any theories would be much appreciated. Peace.

in these last few sets of pics where the leaves are a little dead on the ends and have that green fading hue to them. Its simply what happens to the plants in nature, the plant will use its own supply of nutrients and the leaves will start to die back and turn yellow, which is a sign of maturity but if it happens to early then it can become problematic. I agree in giving some nitrogen but in cases where the plants are larger or if many leaves start to die or turn yellow then adding more than a tiny bit is necessary. there are many good brands of organic nutes out there. but it is perfectly natural for those bigger fan leaves especaily to die off. How many weeks are these in? WHat nutes and scheduled do you have including how many times per week are they watered? Also im thinking that the image 2942 would more than likely be the blueberry consequently making the other the candy kush, besides i think blueberry is sativa and those buds in the first fews pics looked mighty fat and juicy. Are they thick feeling? What about the one i think is blueberry, are the buds dense or is it very resinous and thinner buds? i am so interested because i had a plant mix up and think i have blueberry on hand, but i didnt know what it looked like exactly but your pics look very similar to what mine looks like. Mine has a very sweet sent to it making me belive its the blueberry besides the buds are very resinous very sticky and the bud is still a lil thin for approx 6-7 weeks but little thick white hairs are throughout the plant

Thanks for the response ForestGreen. Yes the one in 2942 is *very* resinous. All these plants are in the middle of their 6th week of 12/12. The plants that are clearly like 2942 started getting sticky and producing quite a bit or resin at about week 3. The other group really just kicked in at the 5th week or so. The buds on the plants that look like 2942 are definitely thick, dense and very, very sticky. Like you can't hardly get your fingers off of them if you touch them even lightly. The smell is super good, sweet with no piney or fuel smell to it. My dilemma is that Kandy Kush is supposed to also smell sweet, but with the OG I am expecting a stronger smell, so I think you may be correct in identifying the plants. Beyond the leaves turning color and dying, the other buds are smaller, but very dense and they are starting to get a thick coating of trichomes. They smell different, but hasn't fully developed yet so I will keep you posted. In the end, I am hoping the phenotype of Blueberry I germinated has some blue/purple tones to it - that would make it easier to be sure :)

As far as nutes, I am using the Roots Organics Master Pack and feeding/watering 1-2 times per week as they dry enough. The instructions are pretty cut and dry, I am following them pretty much spot on every time according to their chart which has different recipes according to the week & stage the plants are in. Haven't noticed any burning or intolerance to the nutes. It smells like shit though...mostly because it basically is shit . The tent is in a cool basement and the LEDs put off almost no heat - the CFL does help and I actually stopped running my exhaust fan 24hr/day and went to 1 hour on and 1 hour off around the clock to allow some heat and humidty to build. So far seems like it is doing the trick.

For the Nitrogen I added the recommended amount of Aurora's GrowN. It's like 1ml per gallon in its recommended dose I believe.

Peace.

I would say the ones with nute burn are the blueberry as they are not overly nute hungry plants where kush is. Blueberry is pure indica by the way ;)

The second lot of photos looks like a nice kush plant :) lookin good mate!

Idk but group one looks like kandy kush. Mines had a few problems, loves calmag and potassium but seems to hate any nitrogen. IMG2133.jpg

Yea t5 start to harvest. She's only getting ran this once thou. Getting replaced with Chernobyl. To me I can see the trainereck coming out. His second group looks like my buddy's old blueberry indica. Is the smell on group one like a sweet coffee/ hash smell?

First off, thanks for all responses. You guys are fucking awesome!

The first group doesn't smell as strong as the second yet - but makes some sense since they really just started showing signs of resin production the last week and a half or so. The second group is very strong and very sweet smelling.

I am going to change the feeding to add more K and less grow nutes to the first group to see if that changes anything. The second group I am going to stay the course since they seem to be responding fine. They look super healthy, and the buds are looking nice. The first group definitely seems to be growing at a much slower rate and the buds aren't increasing in size at as fast a rate.

Thanks again for all the great advice. Seriously appreciate it.

Peace.

Hmmm.... my kandy kush lagged in resin production till the middle of the 5th week, and its really packing on now. Fits DNA's description dead on

I think you'll find out for sure in the next few weeks anyway as the blueberry should turn a slight grape colour and it will smell like blueberry, all mine did anyway :)

And truepunk, nice work man, those T5's look like they're producing some nice buds!

Duudical, try giving them some potash, it is more what they need at the moment and should help them green back up :)

Chernobyl is fucking serious shit!! I want to get some of those seeds fer sure. It had one of the most distinct smells and tastes i had ever experienced up until that breed. I was also going to add in about the different plant species but some1 mentioned that the blueberry was indica dom. From this you can decipher a great from plant to plant, different traits and things to look for.

My strain whatever it may be is definitely a indica, by the leaves and the height of the plant, just the basic structure of the plant. I also wanted to mention i use earth juice nute. they are organic very forgiving and no build up of salts locking out nutes. Sometimes when you grow a certain strain of group of plants long enough, you will be able to just tell right away what they need and what their schedule is. Many growers are able to tell when their plants are done by learning what to look for. its never just one sign. This is true the whole way through.
Over-nuteing can happen before you see the first signs of it by that time you might nute again, so its always wise to just use clean water nearly every other watering, depending on how comfortable you feel what your plants need or can handle.
Remember its good you know under-watering is always better than over-watering, its only too late when the plants wilt. and always water at the start of lights on if you can help it, plants only use the water when its lights on and its important they have good air circulation. Its ok to let the heat build as high as 85 degrees during lights on and flowering plants dont like very high humidity. At night you wont want to go much below 65 degrees 70 D. is fine, until maybe week 10 or 1 1/2 weeks before harvest, then dropping the temp to like 60 at night can help bring out MANY many colors in your plants. Well for me im under a 400w hps ATM
But definitely have a couple/few oscillating fans in the room, blowing fans right on the plants sucks moisture out of them and might not give the full benefit of strengthening the branches. Moving and turning your plants around under the light week to week can be beneficial too.

Try to take some new pics with your camera and a tripod on a timer as to not move the camera durring pics, but then sperate both groups into 2 different Posts. this will make it easier for ppl to identify. HOPE TO SEE THEM SOON.

Really great info guys. I am learning more with each grow. Ha ha, this is my second one so I guess I am like a preschooler still, but I love growing these plants and caring for them.

Just germinated a few more seeds:

(1) Reserva Privada Kosher Kush
(1) Big Buddha Blue Cheese
(1) Reserva Privada Purple Wreck

Might try growing these in coco. My first grow was hydro which was pretty cool and they say growing in coco can produce similar results but with some of the easy maintenance of soil growing. We shall see.

Once these are done, I am just going to put the three vegging plants into flower I think rather than take clones at this point. I have topped them carefully and will do some LST and see what happens. Here they are currently:

This is the C99:

This is the Northern Light Blue (Blueberry x Northern Lights):

This is the Tangerine Dream:

So going off of ForrestGreen's great suggestion, Here is the first group of plants - that I only can call "dark green" at this point LOL. I don't have a tripod, but I tried to get as steady and detailed pics as I could.

IMG_2964.jpgIMG_2967.jpgIMG_2968.jpgIMG_2969.jpgIMG_2976.jpgIMG_2977.jpg

These were taken today, which is day 41 of 12/12. These have shown a very vigorous and continual growth with very green foliage and significant frostification coming in early in the 3rd week.
