Kandy Kush, Tangie, and Aurora closet grow. 600 watt HPS

Here’s a shot of the other kandy kush that still has a week to go. Buds aren’t as fat as the fast finishing pheno but this one is way frostier. Yeah this thread will finally get interesting. Everything came out absolutely wonderful this time around and I’m going to be sharing lots of pictures of all the gorgeous nuggets.

Here’s another couple pics, close up and a little zoomed out of the extra frosty kandy kush pheno. I thought the big tangie was gonna be the frostiest, but this one has edged her out by a bit in the endgame. I’m hoping that if I let her go a little ways into 9 weeks she’ll swell up some more, but the tips of the colas are already pretty solid. She may just be a moderate yielding heavy resin producer, or maybe the clone will yield better with a longer veg time. We’ll see, because I’m keeping her for at least one more round.

I will say this after almost completing this run. A lot of people like to talk shit about Nirvana. A lot of it is fair (they don’t do a very good job of stabilizing shit and some of their strains are garbage — looking at you blue mystic), but they definitely have some decent gear. Some of it is just the genetic lottery, but the rest of it is just good old fashioned pheno hunting and paying attention to what your plants need. Two keeper phenos from four beans. The aurora and white widow are clones. Both solid. The aurora is getting retired and I may keep the white widow for a while longer. That should be the main takeaway from this. They may do a lot of reverse engineering, but a killer pheno is a killer pheno no matter how it came into existence. I’ve got a really promising looking blue dream from nirvana in the tent too. My overall experience with them was positive and it is highly likely I will order more gear or pop some more of the beans I still have.

I recently switched to greenpoint and my results so far are mixed. The snake oil and ice cream punch are doing amazing. The pebble pusher and OBS are totally underperforming. They’ve been in the tent for about 3 weeks under a 120 watt quantum board and only have two sets of small leaves. They sprouted at the end of last month. I’m pretty sure I’m going to toss those and bring in the purple Larry. The heisenbeans fem crosses seem killer from my experience so far. I dunno why the snake oil is doing so well because that’s one of Gu~’s stardawg crosses as well. I’m pulling the trigger on the purple Larry as soon as the promo code hits my email. I may pop the other half of the pebble pusher and OBS down the road and see if I have better luck, but honestly I’m starting to feel like they aren’t worth growing out.

How are them Tangie looking?
I have some crockett farms tangie one week into flower. Curious of how much of a stretch you got out of the sativa leaning one.

These are nirvana’s tangie, so I don’t know if they will compare to Crockett’s or DNA’s. Nirvana says they got a Cali-o cut and crossed it with their super skunk. It’s not the same as the American version, but it’s damn good. They stretch like motherfuckers — the one that stayed so short in veg exploded once I flipped her. I would say she tripled in height and the sativa one more than doubled.

The shorter pheno actually impressed me later on. I thought she wasn’t gonna produce enough resin but she pumped it up in the end. The sativa pheno has been a champ from the beginning. Serious structuring goes on during veg, and she really blows up. My biggest yielder currently by a large margin. Here colors are stunning. Purple margins around the leaves, electric orange pistils, and lime green every where else. Here are a couple new pics.

Those look awesome! Definately got some time to go.
I'm scrogging mine and was hoping for an idea of how long i need to keep tucking for. Was planning on around 3 weeks from the flip to 12/12

I tucked mine for the first two weeks of 12/12. I transplanted into a 7 gallon bag the day I flipped her and a good amount was already able to weave into the trellis. Next time I’m going to veg them in the closet and weave them for a couple weeks before I flip. She started showing pistils around day 18. I think she’ll be ready sometime between 60 and 70 days and Monday will be day 56. I’m guessing she’ll go almost to 70. If you don’t scrog her you’ll be in trouble because she stretches like crazy.

I ordered two 60 watt bars to mount on the side of my light. Everything seemed to like the two boards and four mini cobs already in my light but it will be easy to add these bars. I’m gonna do that tonight after the light goes off. I’m wondering if the extra light will harden the buds any or if it’s too late in the game.

Those bars will bring my light up to 480 watts of lm310b and cxb1820 chips. I built this light with my closet or a tent in mind, and it’s gonna really crank once I add these bars. I already have the driver. I just have to mount them and wire them up, but I’m going to re-wire the light while I have it down so all the controls, 3 power toggles and two pots (for dimming the boards and cobs), are in the same box. The controls look kinda sloppy right now and will look super clean when I’m done since I bought a bunch of new drill bits. I’ll get some pics of the light up tonight when it’s totally done.

I’m also thinking about wiring in a desk fan and finding some way to mount it permanently. I just have one sitting up there blowing air over the drivers and heatsinks and it works really well, so maybe I should just keep it like that.

I overestimated my available space by quite a bit. One week in and the screen is just about full.
Hoping to keep it going for another week or so.

I didnt flip till i saw pistils, so a bit later than you. Around 6 weeks of veg, one topping, and a week under the screen before the flip.
3 gallon pots though, so hopefully that helps keep them down a bit.

Light building is addictive. I keep fighting the urge to build another.

Here’s some pics of the other plants. One was ready enough to cut down and since I’m running low I needed to get some stuff dry enough to squish ASAP. The aurora and white widow are clones. Everything else was from seed. I didn’t veg for very long. Feminized seeds so I didn’t wait to sex them. I like to wait until they show sex in veg otherwise.

Big cola on the shorter tangie pheno:

Here’s the sativa tangie mom. She’s an absolute beast in veg. Loves to make long branches near the base that root effortlessly.

6090D898-3409-4AC5-A23E-E0436ECCA134.jpeg

The super frosty kandy kush is a little more temperamental. Kinda weird with nutes but since I’ve dialed them in she’s doing better. The mom looks kinda weird because she wasn’t happy about being cloned and took a while to recover. The other pheno never even rooted. I’m hoping she’ll like the aero cloner better. If I can get her into a nice sturdy bush, I think I’ll get a better yield of that ridiculously frosty bud.

Here’s one plant all trimmed up. The bud was wetter than I thought so I’m not weighing it or putting it into a jar just yet. I came this far I don’t wanna fuck up the cure. Fills up a quart mason jar all the way so I’m guessing around 2 ounces. This is probably about average for everything in there except for that sativa dominant tangie that just keeps stacking. Not quite foxtails but she’s shooting out little clusters wherever she can. She’s gonna go the full 70 if she keeps swelling up. I can’t believe the yield on that pheno. I probably could have let this one go another week but I’m almost out of rosin and my dab rig is constantly starving.

Looking at that pic of the sativa leaning tangie, I would guess you have a few weeks before shes even ready to think about chopping.
Just my 2 cents.
Wish i had the kind of selection you have going in there. Usually am getting tired of smoking one before i have another ready to go.

I was thinking 70 days because today is day 56. She’s still got mostly yellow pistils but the way she just keeps stacking calyx clusters anywhere she can is just insane. The main colas are almost as big around as a soda can and rock fucking hard. People like to bash Nirvana’s gear but this pheno shows that you can strike gold with them. I wanted a more classic tangie that hadn’t been crossed out with sour d or lemon skunk. I’m calling this pheno purple tangie for obvious reasons. I’ll get some more pics up this afternoon after work.

Nice grow,

Why did you switch off the HPS and back to LED in the middle of flower??

I never had a good LED light until I built the one you see. Before when I tried flowering with LEDs I was using shitty blurple lights. I don’t consider those good LEDs. I started this batch with the HPS and was planning on finishing with it, but I got the bug to build a killer LED light really bad. As soon as I finished it I hung it up for lower power consumption.

Anyway I’m about to chop down that super frosty kandy kush. I haven’t seen any new calyxes or white pistils in about a week and most of the trichomes are cloudy like I like it.

Here she is after the first trim. Doesn’t look like a lot but I think the yield will be better than the other pheno. These buds are rock solid. I think she’s gonna do way better next time going from a clone and with a longer veg period. I think just a little bit better structuring in veg and a little more time will raise the yield quite a bit.

Chopped down one of the tangies today. The one I haven’t been talking about as much that stays super short in veg and explodes. Didn’t scrog this one because of how short she stayed. I just let her grow straight up and she almost tripled in height from flip to harvest. I’m pleasantly surprised by the quality of the nug, and since this one is so compact during veg, I’m thinking about keeping the remaining clone in the tent until she’s big enough to go outside and let her grow into a monster. My state regulates the number of plants you can have, but not the size, and a lot of people really know how to make the most of a plant count restriction.

Nirvana says this is a high yielding strain and they aren’t kidding. I’ve heard good things about their blue dream — they say it’s their absolute biggest yielder and that’s the one I still have in veg. That plant looks fucking crazy. I only popped one bean but by the looks of it I popped the right one.

I also have a blue dream from nirvana in the works. She’s just a baby so I’m excited to see what yours will do! Good luck buddy!

Here’s what she looks like now. I’m pretty interested in what those huge stems are going to end up supporting. She’s sure structuring herself for some enormous buds. Kinda interesting to see these fat, overlapping fan leaves on a sativa dominant hybrid. I bought this particular strain because it’s supposedly their highest yielder and does great outdoors. I had a huge outdoor harvest last year but the bud honestly kinda sucked. Never get their blue mystic. At least not the regular version. One pheno was okay but the other one had this horrible sickly sweet hoppy smell. I squished an ounce and gave all that rosin away because the first dab almost made me puke.
