I have reveged a few plants before. From my experience, you have to remove ALL the bud sites and do it before the plant fully matures. these growth sites are producing hormones which stop tissues like stem/leaf/roots from growing. this lets the flowers and seeds use maximum amount of carbs and nutes.
So you want to chopp them before the plant is so depleted it dies. Remember that cutting anything off the plant will stress it, as it has to divert energy to seel the wound.
Try to remove all the bud sites in atleast two seperate trimming sesions on diff days.
If the plants reveg they may have strange looking leaves, alot like those of lions tail plant leonorus ???? which is related to cannabis. The leaves may only be a single blade and may be very waxy, but eventually leaves return to normal growth. Reveg is ussualy very bushy aswell, with buds sites sometimes popping up from stem.
There are "plant starter" hormones and enhancer solutions you can buy which contain acetic acids and other wierd hormone promoters which may help get the plant back into growth.
Id say the longer the plant flowers the more damage is done to it, which gives you less chance of reveg and of lower quality.
