i have a little indoor grow going, is their anyway to keep your plants small, say you put your plants like 3 inches from the lights to avoid stretching, will this help to keep plants small?

well, the smaller the plant, the less the yield i am sure is a good rule of thumb. Yes it will, but it will also allow you to grow mor eplants in the same area, and keep your grow small. You arent going to be able to let a plant reach 3 feet, then flower, and expect it to be under 5 feet. Its a give and take world bro.

this will decrease the amount of yield as well right?
I did an experiment with 6 plants. 3 I flowered from clones right away. The other 3 vegged for 6 weeks. The 3 I did from clones grew to around 20 inches and I got 6 oz. The others where 4.5 feet and got 6.5 oz. -- The bud on the small plants where tight heavy little logs. The buds from the tall plant where bigger in size but loose an fluffy. 2 square inches of the small plant definatley out weighed 2 square inches from the big ones. I used T5 an CFL mix in each grow box and one test means nothing till some one does another! Like the bigger plants could have handled more nutes than the little ones but I kept it the same in the name of Marijuonagy!

now thats good expieramenting! i did one similar with pot size, put 10 in 4 inch square pots and 20 in 2 gallon round pots. i did this becouse the books were saying i would need 5 gal pots to flower.! fuck all that, all that soil and space, i dont think so. so anyway they are performing now, identically and these bitches are 3.5 ft tall, all of them, pot size doesnot control hieght for shit. ill let you all know how they yield! thatll be the real test

theres a couple ways to keep them small first keep the lights as close as you can with out burning, you can also get this stuff called Bush Monster it makes your plants bushy and short.. and then theres topping your plant witch is pinching off the very new growth off the top of your plant.. AND one more way is Low Stress Training (LST) GROWFAQ read all 4 also check out this thread https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/15119-how-do-i-keep-my.html also I would do a little more research about putting your clones straight into flowering, I heard thats not smart you will and up with weak buds.

The buds from my flowered clones where and are the better bud it's more compact. It seems to smoke the same exept a small nug for a bowl weighs 2 times what the nugs from the bigger plants weighed. I know that the mature age of your clone is equl to the mother. If you have a couple links I would love to read them. I see taller plants equal bigger bud not more bud if you can give a great amount of light. I do nothing but small grows now maybe I should change but will see.

GREAT EXPERAMENT! I know Ive done some grows with adding nothing to the soil that turned out great. The only reason I would want more soil (and I don't) is if I wasn't adding nutes and was relying on the soil over a long period of time. Oh and if you want 14 footers.

Keep us posted! Or a link back to your journal!

i'd have to say that if you're going for a shorter plant, try for a bushier indica variety and surround it with cfls. that way your yeild can still be maintained by keeping the bottom of the plant as well lit as the top.

btw. that LST faq is sick. it also provides light to the bottoms. very important with small plants.

yeah, not a bad idea. you might want to start with LST and then do sum scrogging. it'd be an awesome experiament and you'd end up with a bushy plant with huge buds.
