Kessel LEDs for side lighting

Have any of you used kessel led lights I have always used hid and I know we talked about this before but these things look awsome. They have blue for veg,purple to give a veg/flower mixed spectrum of red and blue, And megenta for flower red spectrum.

Anyway in my case I will be using 1000watt hps for flower but was thinking of getting 4-8 purple spectrum for some side lighting I will document this when I get going I'm putting a shopping list together for the first run and want to experiment with these they will be positioned close to each corner of the grow canopy and closest to the top but also pointing downward at the side growth plant, plants will be rotated a quarter turn each day in 2 rows in a 4x8 using 10 gal smart pots under 2000 watt hps for main lighting,.... Anyway kind of getting ahead of my self and rambling feeling motivated after some Pineapple Express 😄

But have any of you used similar supplemental lighting it looks promising check these things out they cover a 2x2 foot area sufficiently but I'm just looking for something to get the most out of my plants without hanging hps on the sides which will make a lot of heat and long term expense in electric not to mention prob more of a fire hazard then the air cooled 1000watt above this seems like a cheaper and more effective route to go.... Your thoughts riu

My thought is you have enough light w/o the side lighting, but whats that LED $? Maybe its cheap enough to try??

Kessels are too expensive for the return, especially for side lighting

Buy a vanity fixture, or 2, from Lowes/HD (4 bulb was ~ $20) then buy the appropriate number of < 10w Cree/ FEIT... WW bulbs @ ~ $10

They are around 139.00 each but I may try a couple I saw "dude grows" on you tube uses just 1 and a couple mainers on you tube also use them they really bring out Terps and oils in the plants with the wide spectrum maybe just run in bloom not sure but will be trying at least one side by side grow with and without the kessel on identical clones

btw my bad they are a little pricey around 230.00 but dammit I want to try at least 1 or 2 and see how it goes check out the dude grows and the plant under the kessel looks gorgeous campared to the others

they look cool but are pretty expensive for how little watts they are. Their footprint is also pretty small, so side lighting at best. I bought lighthouse blackstar. Its about 186 watts or something. Little cheaper then one of those kessels but would blow them out of the water. Makes almost any species of plant i put under it color up.

Yeah that was the one of the draw backs that I saw/found with the kessel it is equivalent of a 150watt hps and only covers a 2'x2' area.but maybe there is something cheaper like what you mentioned corners , I would try that if they are the same price for some side lighting and supplemental with hps but I have a couple journals in mind before I take the leap and get the led lights i have a goal in mind I want get a multi strain grow going soon

I started with LEDs when I started, loved them, had both an UFO type from local hydro, and a 400 watt eqiv, black star if I remember right. Then just beyond their warranties, bulbs started not working, then whole sections. To expensive to replace for the short life. If I was knowledgable enough and could repair, I would use them as my main source of light with a mH to penetrate.

Yeah I want to give them a try sometime but for now I love HID's and t5's for seedlings and young clones now that I have the house next step is to get my Maine dl then patient card and start some journals &#128516;

Hey JP,

If you're looking to yield more then unfortunately the only 1 efficient way to do so is with properly cooled HID. In terms of LED, they just don't produce weight. However! If you're looking to improve quality, then the additional spectrum provided by the LED's will provide an awesome boost to sugar production (extra sticky), and it may also benefit other things like smaller intermodal spacing if you're having stretch, etc. IMO it sounds like you already have a ton of output so if I were you I'd throw in some decent UFO's (Bloom Boss maybe?) so that theyre hitting atleast 50% of each plant and the THC % increase should justify the high premium for LED's once you take that first toke!!

You already have all the light you need, $2000 worth of LED's isn't going to do anything, except maybe light burn your plants.

I know it's added expense but I just want to give it a shot and see what a more full spectrum like that can do for my plants... won't be right away but would like to do a run with and with out the led's and do a journal on it to see the results for now I will be doing air cooled 2k in the 4x8 for flower
