The war in Iraq is completely fucked up. I have a friend who recently got back from a deployment over there. I respect his service tremendously but the stories I hear are terrible, it makes me sick to hear. It is commonplace to see dead bodies and other casualties of war. As hard as it is to say, most soldiers become desensitized to this sight. In the face of constant death and destruction some soldiers found a sliver of joy in the form of a little puppy they could care for. This puppy would accompany my friend when he was on watch, a faithful little companion. At the base another dog was also there. This dog had been badly abused and had become irratic in its behaviour. Some higher up members of the unit had deemed it necessary to put the animal down, this was done with a 9mm to the back of the head. As a dog lover I was saddened to hear this, but part of me could understand given the situation. Upon learning of this, the other offended soldiers sought revenge on the other puppy. They put this puppy in a box, soaked it in gasoline and set it on fire. They then proceeded to pump it full of 5.56mm NATO rounds. My friend was absolutely devestated. War is tough enogh without this shit. Hearing this story second hand made me cry, I'm humble enough to admit it. I began thinking, what type of person is capable of this? Torturing a puppy to death seems far more sick and twisted than simple manslaughter. Many human cases have a lot of extenuating circumstances, self defense, etc. For this act, there can be no excuse at all. I love all my animals dearly as most stoners love their pets to death as well. This story really tore my heart out, I apologize if it offended any of you, I really had to get it off my chest somehow... I can never comprehend how utterly cruel man can be. Fighting terrorists is one thing, but this... there are no words...We are labeled criminals because of our peaceful lifestyle? Not in my book. Peace and love y'all! Be good to each other
