King Plus Led ??

I know this question undoubtedly has been asked already, probably thousands of times. I've scanned the 101 already asked questions forum and the lights link was broken. I cannot seem to find the answer I'm looking for. I'm new here but have been a lurker for quite some time.

I'm starting my first grow soon and have a question on lights. I have a 60x60x80 Apollo Horticulture tent, and a 1000w King Plus Led. Here are the specs from Amazon.

Specifications :
Dimension: 12.2x8.26x2.36inches
Power:1000w(100pcs*10w)
LED Type: Epistar LEDs
Full spectrum for vegetative and flowering stage: 410nm, 430~440nm, 450~475nm, 620~630nm, 650~670nm, White, IR(730nm)

I can't post a link yet but you can find it on Amazon with a quick search for more info.

I was going to get some CFLs or T5s for seedling stage but read somewhere that I can put my seedlings right under this type of LED. I didn't notice a switch anywhere on the light to turn the reds and blues off and just have the whites going.

Can I use this light for the seedlings, veg and flower of would I need separate lights?

Firstly epistar LEDs are about 2-3 watts each not 10w.

Second you probably could if this is not an all purple LED and kept it high like 3-4 ft above the seedling in the beginning.

Third you can grow in Lego blocks with candlelight if you had too. So ignore the second.

Yeah you can use any light for flower or veg but there is an ideal colour temp for flower 3000k to 3500k is best I believe and for veg I think it's 5500k, if the light has red and blue leds it will work for both but what I noticed is with red light their whole life my indica dominant strains started to look like sativas because the leaves started to stretch out

That's a big ass tent for that tiny little light I hope you have something better for flower. That light can veg like 1/4 of that tent

The important thing to know about this type of lighting is the power draw.

As you can see its a 185w light. To put its simply that level of old tech lighting you want 50w per square foot.
If your measurements are in inches then you will need a lot more light than that.

But yes you can use it for seedling and then for early veg but once you plants are taking up more than 2.5x2.5 (in veg) you will need more lighting.

It's important to test things and not judge by what site that knows nothing about lights and what it says. Test the watts yourself before you say something.

I don't need to, I know the lack of efficiency of those chips and I grow with proper LEDs.
Besides that there isn't a light on this planet that can light up 5ft x 5ft in flower with only 185w.

It pulls more then 185w I promise you that

I hear candles can grow pot you should test that you can't say it doesn't work till you try it right?

Truth be told till any of you go get meter and test it yourself then your unreliable answers are really not needed... This is the same light I have and I'm grown perfectly fine In my tent

Yes but the same light will often be sold with different wattages, it depends what the cheapest drivers they can get supplied at the time of manufacturing that batch. I have seen the same light advertised as 265w draw before, im sure it was as advertised give or take 5%.

So while im willing to accept yours may be higher draw than 185W its still not anywhere near the amount of light the OP needs to flower successfully in a 5x5 tent.

Its still a cheap light made from cheap parts that uses old tech and false advertising to sell its wares to unsuspecting consumers.

Oh well I fully agree with you that it's not good for a 5x5 but my argument is that it's a great light for growth. It draws little power but is good for a 5x5 if you put 3 of them in there. Yeah they are pretty bad about lieing to consumers but it's up to you as the consumer to read and read about buying something haha. It's a cheap light u use 3 grows and then use the money from that to upgarde to a better light but from what I'm trying to say is that it's really not a bad light for the money let's be honest

You need like 6 of those to fill a 5x5 theres much better options for the money. He is going to have to buy alot more light he should NOT get another one of these lights.
