KISS to keep Moms

What is the simplest way to keep moms in a perpetual hydro setup? I'm running an ebb and grow system and wanted to keep a few moms around. Just throw them in soil or any small hydro setups? I don't want to do individual DWC buckets as it's a PIA to clean

i've only done from seed or bought clones but the few that i know that keep moms say dirt is the easiest. very little light, light feedings too.

Big mama cube. Only need to water it every few days.

I do 5 gal dwc's for moms, 3-6 at any time. Keep them at .7ec 5.8ph under a T8. Change res every 2 weeks, top up between if needed. Clean?o_O I dump the bucket, quick rinse with tap water and refill with nutes.

Dirt would be easier, but I don't bring dirt inside anymore.

Kept mine in coco for the last 2 years. Just potted her up a couple months ago, doing much better than my dirt moms.

First time I used DWC and they stayed healthy for over a year and half but it was a lot of maintenance as we kept only 2 mothers each of six strains and they all seemed to like a slightly different mix of nutrient. Second go we went coco and it was just a hell of a lot easier in big 10 gallon pots. Feeding and maintenance became a breeze

Now that I'm just doing indoor for me I don't keep moms and just clone from clone with no trouble but have not went beyond 4-5th generation before moving on. The issue with that is timing can be an tricky re taking clones to early from a plant before throwing it under 12/12. I need more room lol. When we were doing larger outdoor runs we kept them in 10 gallon bags under t8's (no t5's then lol) with a mix of soil and coco, lightly fed and gas light schedule.

I create a new mother every grow for timing reasons. They start out as a clone along with the others. The most vigorous clone is chosen as the next mother when the others hit the veg room. They are in a peat based mixture much like ProMix and fed when watered with 20-20-20 until cloned from and disposed of or dropped in a hole outside.

Ive also just been cloning from clones, onto my 3rd generation now, but I obtained the strain from clone aswell so god knows how many generations old it is. How long is it safe to keep cloning from clones? Guess I should set a mother chamber up..
