i havn't ever had such a clean garden...its been really dry overall here though....and oxidate once every 8-10 days seems to be working well....applied last blast today.....even my beast QT that is outside is spot free, and her colas are giant and dense as hell....probably the biggest colas i have ever grown....

this was said over @icmag in the growing large plants thread by a really skilled grower (rootwise) and thought id share here:

As for pruning and training, I do little to none in regards to topping or tieing. I may top one or two apical meristem of an over-zealous shoot just so I don't have one hair outta place so to speak. Plants assume the globe shape on their own people. Tieing down-- as for the branch getting "strong".....NO. It gets woody. Then it puts out less and less soft, vigorous, vegetative growth. The MORE you manipulate your plants the more you SLOW them down. Sure, those techniques are fine for the gardens I am seeing that are limited in height or space due to location but......This is the BIG plants thread, not the general outdoor grower's thread. Do you want them big? Or are you content with 5 footers that put out 3-5 units per? Ready to bust into the 7 unit and up bracket? Want to hit 10+???? Then listen up. I started my attempts with plenty of misconceptions (including topping and tieing) but I swallowed my pride and listened. And CHANGED my approach. Then tweaked it again. Then started hitting real goals. All the info you need is in this thread if you go back and do your reading people. Trying to re-invent the wheel every 10 pages on this thread does nothing but derail people from learning, which is why we're here. Stop setting yourself and others back with poor advice. There are a few key principles that will get you your success, follow them and see.....

This is coming from a positive place, it is not personal. I'm not ranting out of anger, just a little frustrated and felt the need to help re-direct some info....so don't get all ass-hurt.

Peace

Yo kk, what's the haps? How's your Sour Flower doing, man? All the hairs have gone brown on mine, and she is starting to swell nicely.

Hope all is well. :peace:

can someone explain to me why it seems everyone is trimming their buds wet? i am very much against the wet trim. handling the buds when they are wet is a big no no imo. the procedure at the farm is cutting 8-10 inch sticks off the main plant. removing the fan leaves and immediately hanging on 14 gauge wire. 4-5 days later after sitting in a room with 45% humidity @ 75 with lots of air movement, the sticks are nugged up into double layer turkey bags. there they sit til the cleaners can get to them. after the units are cleaned they go into vacuum sealed bags with a nitrogen flush. there they will sit for 6 months, at which time they will be opened up out of their sealed bags and brought back to proper consistency with use of a humidifier. These packs will pass for indoor when the market isnt saturated.

I can always spot buds that have been trimmed wet. they dont look as pristine. also the task of trimming everything wet is a shit ton of work and isnt practical for large scale. and those dry racks always leave your buds looking flat on one side. i dont believe that leaving the smaller sugar coated leaves on til they dry makes the product harsher. just my .02 folks. hate seeing beautiful finished flowers manhandled.
