I am planning a first grow and have been reading everything I can find. Even have a few books coming to get me through the winter.........Thanks for the information on this site, it is appreciated!
I have 3 locations available, each with a different size and appeal. I am planning 400w HPS and am only looking for personal yield (less than 1/8oz per week). All locations are around my house, with generally cool neighbors and a pretty big lot size). I'll be ventilating and heating at night. Soil grow and I'd like to keep a rotation going with clones just because. Have an option to use a small exterior closet (16" by 12" by 7' for clones/ mother).
1) Outdoor shed adjacent to garage. Width 52", depth 34", height 55" (plus another 8-10" if I dig down). UPs- Size, it's near garden already so odor control is easier, drainage is simple. DOWNs - Temperatures are harder to manage in the winter (Seattle area, nights 40-50f) and every time I open the door in the winter to water the neighbors might get a light show!
2) In garage nook. 68" wide, 26", height 44" (nothing can be changed). UPs - Privacy (I can peek without anyone seeing), temperatures a little more balanced. DOWNs - Height limit of less than 4' and width just better than 2', garage may smell like skunk .
3) Under the house. 46" tall unless I dig by almost unlimimited floorplan. UPs- Width, pretty easy to access with out drawing attention. DOWNs - If something goes wrong I burn the house down starting under my daughters rooms, electrical meter is nearby so meter reader better be hard of smelling..............
I have basically eliminated #3. Down to #1 or #2 and am leaning towards #2 but afraid the about the height limit. Is it possible grow in a space that is 2' x 5.5' (or 2'x2.5)' if I carve out a clone booth)? Should I be thinking about special techniques (SCROG? Leaned over?). How about a species? I am more interested in the cerebreal qualities of a sative hybrid, rather than the wheelchair effect of indica (I grew up without knowing this distinction, it explains a lot ). And remember, I only need to yield 14-20g / month so let's not talk about World Record stuff!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks in advance,
Banzai
